... You didn't have to address me. I do it for the same reason I'm sure you made that comment.. Because I FELT like it. at least I said good luck. People just deserve to have their parade rained on. That's life. Just as easily as you could have ignored it so could these other people.

Like how you see the world "child" and have to post? Anyway, I'm done. Good luck with your baby names. Let's give it back to the child-free people.

And I didn't "attack" you. Go back and read. I said this thread is for child-free (the movement) people.

To be fair, I was hoping that people that are child free by choice (and will most likely never ever ever have/want kids) would post here. Child free is a 'movement' if you will.

You make every relationship/children/family thread about yourself. I checked this thread specifically because I knew you would have posted in it (even though, as RunnerGrad said, it's obviously for people who choose to be child-free). And I was right. There was a post from you, talking about your dreams of having babies.

Well, they better start having babies, especially those in the sciences, because the anti-science crowd reproduces like jack rabbits.

I think the point of this thread was by choice, not circumstance. You make status updates about picking out future baby names on your lunch break.

It always leads to sex. JUST KIDDING(not really).

I lived with 3 girls(i'm a dude) in NYC for a few months, they were pretty good roommates. My current roommate is a girl and she turned this house to jerry springer(boyfriend baby mamma ect..). Overall I'd say i've had more problems in same sex living arrangements than opposite sex.

So well I checked my online application follow up status and well what do you know!

    ACCEPTED MDev

Unfortunately no scholarship and it remains refused as yesterday which means it wasn't a technical fault. Nevertheless thanks for the support you guys!

Guess I am the first one to know from the deferred applicants. Haha irony! Though I haven't received an official email yet!

As for everyone else waiting I hope you guys get through with full scholarship!

That is just such a meaningless response.  It's like saying "Everyone's entitled to their own opinion!"  A completely empty statement that totally ignores the substance of what I was arguing.  If you had thought about what I wrote, you might conclude that this thread does a disservice to everyone; I am sorry that you don't care about the collective good of the rest of the users on this forum.

Sorry, I fail to see the usefulness of this thread.  Whereas posts about admissions communicate information about when schools have started announcing, posts about offer declination say nothing more than that people are declining offers, which is a foregone conclusion.  On one side, it's an opportunity to show off (hey, I'm declining all these great schools, I'm so awesome!) and on the other side, it's a desperate and misplaced attempt to mollify people who have been wait-listed.  While I am sure you had good intentions, the implicit point of this thread seems to be to pressure people to hurry up and dump their offers.  I think that everyone who has earned multiple offers should take all the time they need to make an informed choice, as I plan on doing.

Yes I did come across this and Alchyna and me discussed this aspect too. Then we came to the conclusion that its networking after all which makes a diff. Secondly, I think they are taking their sweet time to decide who to take and who not to so as to avoid the big class conundrum.

Plus I love your signature Oriole, "IHEID - Forever pending, killing me softly", sums up what all of us feel.

Sorry to hear that. Good luck for IHEID.

Did you know this beforehand? Why would you go to a school that offered no classes in your interest? I'm not belittling you. I'm actually curious. These are not rhetorical questions.

Out of how many total cohorts? Is this person crappy to anyone or just you specifically? Why do you think they're crappy to you? Can you be any more firm with this person to "let them know the deal" and "put them in their place" so that they stop harassing you? If it's just one person and this person is known to be an asshole, ignore them and don't let them bother you.

Are these all the classes you've taken so far at this school? I imagine so since you've only been in since September, unless you're on a quarter system. Did these professors have something against anyone else or just you specifically? And, of course, why do you think so? You can always talk to them and be honest with them. It might just be a misunderstanding.

This happens. Especially in grad school since students and professors have much closer relationships than in undergrad. Well, you just got there so it makes sense that they might be more familiar with other students. Unless their favoritism results in unfair and unethical things, I don't see the problem. Become their favorite if you want.

Do other female students think these professors are sexists or is it just you? I'm sure girls talk about things and if you get to know other students, you might get to know how they feel. And maybe the male students who showed up 30 minutes late actually did say something insightful. They made it this far. They're also probably more familiar with the material since they've probably been in the program longer than you. You can't expect to be the smartest student your first semester no matter how much you read the book.

This sucks. Ask other students how they deal with it. I'm sure they're all not rich and living off daddy's money. So you're saying you get paid monthly but have to pay tuition up front? How did you manage to do it these past two semesters? And do you have enough money to live decently? Grad life is not luxurious. All of us are learning to live on very little. As long as you're able to live. Many students take out loans. If you get a stipend, which I imagine you don't need to pay back, then that's much more than the majority of master's students get. Most master's programs are unfunded. All the funding goes to the PhD students.

That sounds really weird. Sounds a little unfair. Once again, you're fortunate that you get paid in the other semesters. It's extremely rare for master's students, especially in the Humanities, to get paid. But having to pay tuition when you're not doing anything seems odd. Are you still allowed to use the research facilities?

Are you sure it's not you? I ask because you say you had a crappy life before this. There are people who are just miserable no matter what happens. Are you sure that's not you? Also, are these feelings just your interpretation or are they legit? Are your professors really sexist, do they really favor the male students who just pull things out of their ass, do they really shoot down all the intelligent things you say, do you really say intelligent things, do your classmates really talk down to you, and do they really laugh at you?

I read one the other day that simply read: "Wow!"

My favorites are more of a type and not any one in particular.  They fall under two categories:

"I have the highest GPA and GRE scores of anyone in the history of the World.  I published in every single research journal on the planet.  I won ten Nobel Prizes last year...I was so positive I was going to be accepted that I moved to [location of school] before I even submitted my application.  Graduate school admissions officers are a bunch of imbeciles who are too ignorant to exist".  A bit of an exaggeration, sure, but these types of "quotes" are there.

    And,

"No biggie.  I knew I was not going to get accepted".
