Congratulations!

Finish strong. Rest up. Towards the end of July, plan on ways that you can hit the ground running in the fall. Potential tasks include: 

• reading up on the policies of your new program and school,
• making sure that the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed with what ever financial support you're receiving,
• doing background research on the professors with whom you will likely work,
• identifying and reading one or two "must reads" in your intended fields (don't over do it),
• revisiting your notes/work from your UGI so that you know what you're supposed to know, and
• developing an understanding of the differences between being an undergraduate and a graduate student.

It's interesting that your proposal defense came before taking your quals. Do you feel that passing the proposal defense is helping you prepare for your exams?

No pigeon coop yet. The involuntary twitching and minor hallucinations have mostly subsided. Mostly.

I'm on the fence with Coach Brown. I think he is seriously underestimating the environment he's in WRT Kobe Bryant.

Anything. Least of all the Lakers' front office singular achievement of making an arch rival stronger at its own expense (i.e. Odom to Dallas).

I think Paul is a great player but that the price would have been too high--especially with Gasol and Odom in the Western Conference. Also, since the explanation of the veto has changed, I now thing the league made a questionable decision: the Hornets would have gotten the best of the trade.

I understand the league's position but as a Lakers I'm conflicted.
