They flew around, jealous, plotting murder, arson, etc. They were searching for hundreds of floating wildebeest. These evil bees converged into a mega bee! Zooming fiercely throughout the glen, until

  4. Definitely. And trying to purchase a broad array of books to prepare, such as "Getting What You Came For": http://www.amazon.com/Getting-What-You-Came-For/dp/0374524777
  5. Oh, I definitely was not teasing you, just responding to Gnome Chomsky's silly comment about whether members will come here to declare themselves "genius[es]". Like you, I too was in the Gifted and Talented Education program as a child. Nevertheless, I do not believe there is much that we can read into that label. There is a dearth of information about the value of these programs, different States have different testing requirements (some even have none), and the resources you receive through membership vary.
  6. Ha. I'm not quite sure I want to lay claim to that label at all. And I believe that proclaiming "genius" would be an issue of humility and self-awareness (e.g. who really thinks they're that brilliant?!), not MBTI type.
  7. Bump... Edit: Wanted to include cost of living calculator: http://www.bankrate....calculator.aspx
  8. A very good story, for everyone here. I'm out of up-votes (apparently, I'm too generous with praise? ), so I'll say thank you for this. Sometimes we can be a bit myopic in our perspective, and when the direct pathway to our goals is hindered we get discouraged. It is good to see someone not easily saddened by a failure or misstep, and who continued to pursue his/her goals regardless (and get a reward later). I shared this with a forum member via PM at the start of this cycle (man we've been here for a long time): http://cdixon.org/2010/09/12/getting-rejected/ . Both the blurb, and the comments beneath it, are everything we need to hear today, and every tomorrow from now on (especially when we start our studies/try to publish/try to find a TT position, which won't be simple either). Seems as if business men and women have a great perspective on how to handle life when things do not go as hoped.
  9. Whoa. 88 users are reading this topic right now...
  10. You may want to check out the URCH Test Masters forum here: http://www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/149036-admission-sweat-thread-2014-a-144.html . They have been debating the veracity of these posts for a while now, and some were found to be trolls. That being said one person in the forum claimed them to be valid. I am not certain if this eases your anxiety, but it does show that without validation, one ought to take all TGC posts with a grain of salt. Or essentially, it is not over until the fat lady sings and you have confirmation of your status
  11. Model deprecation (Nooooo!!! Darn you, FreeRadical! )
