I just want to pop in to defend the social sciences and dispute this implication that people in the "hard" sciences are smarter so going there would solve the problem.  Group discussions give people the opportunity to open their mouths and possibly look like idiots.  You might think that hard science students are more worthy of your time, but it could just be that in lecture-based classes they're not being given similar chances to demonstrate that many are, indeed, also morons.   [Assuming they're actually morons and we don't have an unskilled and unaware situation going on here...]

My practical advice is that if your advisor relationship is fine, stick with it and focus your outside-of-class time on the students whose contributions you enjoy. Grad school is more about the research than the classes anyway.

wtf is this. If you are not accepted it is because you are not as good as other people (even though you think your stats are "excellent"). Why do you have to spin your rejection around and say the adcom makes mistakes? This is not communist Russia. Only the best students should be admitted to graduate programs.

So by your logic I should feel blessed with a third rated surgeon who failed anatomy but got into medical school because it is a "game". Also obviously I want a loser "psychologist" who "game" into grad school and somehow become licensed and I am suppose to trust that person with my mental health. Right.....

if you get rejected by that many places maybe you are not a very good student and would make a terrible psychologist. Please consider another career.

*Jenny* got a reaction from Tin Sn in No new email in inbox !! What do u say to ur self ???
I called the grad admissions coordinator for my program a week and a half ago and she said that all the decisions had been made, nobody had been notified, and they were just waiting to hear back from the FGS regarding a few "special cases" before they sent out notifications. She said it would either be this past week (nope) or next week. Roll on Monday!

I think this is a great approach to managing the stress of waiting. I just hit my goal weight today after having my second baby in October (35 pounds of pregnancy weight plus 10!) I feel great!

I think it is key to remember that a self-respecting university would probably manage to contain their excitement to max one exclamation mark.

*Jenny* got a reaction from kmizter in URGENT- my reference missed the deadline...
I would definitely email the graduate department. You have a shot. I know at UBC the grad admissions coordinator of my program gives an extra two weeks or so after the deadline for additional documents to come in. I had a similar issue, except my reference submitted his literally the day before the deadline.
