I've been naked and chanting 'Sam Stone Sam Stone' all morning, so hopefully he's heard something from Akeel.

Good points! Another friend of mine who is in graduate school drew attention to the bit about student loans. I hadn't thought about that. Yes, I do have some loans and it was pointed out to me that I could pay off those loans at B and perhaps take a good bite out of them at C—whereas that would be impossible at A.
I don't think program C would be bad for mentorship. The profs I'm interested in working with are older and are purportedly a bit out of touch with the job market. They also have big reputations as far as publishing good philosophy (that's probably why the school has higher rankings)—but I've heard no independent praise about how they are as teachers and mentors. Whereas I've heard independent praise about the mentorship of the people I'd be working with at programs A and B, especially A.
I think B will be my top choice, unless A makes a competitive offer rather than the projected one.
It's worth pointing out that I'd be happy to go to any of these places. It's important to bear that in mind on this intense day.

Just in time for decision day: the APDA project releases data on how over 100 departments have done placing their students in jobs (including types of jobs and AOSs): http://dailynous.com/2016/04/15/philosophy-placement-data-and-analysis-an-update/

Although I haven't been accepted off the waitlist in my #1 program, I'll be declining my fellowship offer from Syracuse later tonight. This is a very difficult decision. I hope this helps someone.

Haha, I've accepted Cincinnati's offer They're an excellent fit for me as I'm a diehard Gibsonian and everyone there seems to be as well.

I'll make a blanket offer for anyone who got into the MA program and/or is waitlisted at FSU and isn't able to visit. Having gotten the list of visitors on Friday, I know there are several of you. If there's information you'd like from someone who is visiting, just PM me to let me know and I'll happily provide it. Specific questions would be helpful, but I can also just give general impressions.

I was accepted into Florida State, Colorado State (both fully funded) and London School of Economics (my first choice, but it's not funded at all yet, but I could get a scholarship, but I won't know until July if I get a scholarship and how much it'd be for)----all for masters in philosophy. And I was accepted into the Euroculture Erasmus Mundus program and I'm in the top 5 of the waiting list to receive the scholarship (which includes about €5000 for travel, full tuition, health insurance and living expenses), that program isn't explicitly philosophy, but it'd allow me to study whatever aspect of European culture I'd want.
I was also accepted into the Peace Corps, which I'd really like to do at some point (maybe after grad school).
I'm still waiting to hear back from another Erasmus Mundus program (Global Studies), the University of Helsinki (Social and Moral philosophy), and I want to apply for an ethics program in Germany that doesn't open it's application until June (which is really annoying, because if it puts me in a really difficult position. It's one of my top choices, but by the time they'll tell me whether I've gotten in or not, I'll already be almost starting classes at whichever place I choose. I wish all universities world-wide observed the same basic deadlines).

Admitted to University of Florida. Three more to go folks, and then I can begin my journey toward freedom from this process (for 2 years...).

Somehow this slipped by me. Sorry.
I've been told that I'm in the middle of the quasi-ranked waitlist. I was also told that applicants have received an offer from my spot and lower.

Party! Is there any bourbon left in Jonny's office?

Ulixes reacted to Davidspring in Declining 2016
I would probably do that if I were to be admitted off the waitlists of other significantly better programs. I really hope that I can help you, but that totally depends on what other strong applicants would do in the coming days.

Ah, my family (a father, a stay-at-home mom, and four kids) lived on less, so I'd take $30,000 any day of the week over the backbreaking manual labor my dad has done for $20,000~$25,000 per year for 30 straight years.
Edit: I fail to understand how anyone could think that 30K is a small sum for reading books, writing papers, and -- probably unsubstantial, at least in the first year -- teaching duties. Sorry for being 'pathetic.'
