    Yale MFA 2018

Try contacting the Senior Administrative Assistant, this is the individual who's cited at the end of the Interview letter. She has been very responsive thus far, Not sure if I'll be able to make it to my in-person Yale interview and they don't seem too accommodating, which is not surprising.

    Yale MFA 2018

Thank you! And It's more like video documentation for some of the larger newer sculptural paintings since I'm unable to bring them in person.

    Yale MFA 2018

Yale mentions nothing in regards to the "kinds" of work one should bring in the letter. Folks who interviewed at Yale before what did you bring or see others bring? Did anyone hear anything from Yale about interview work expectation for painting during the open house? I'm personally thinking about what's going to be economically feasible, so smaller works nothing over 30 inches that can't be rolled. Majority of what I'll be bringing will be a surprise and didn't include in my application. Hoping they'll have a projector in the room to project a few videos.

Standing in solidarity with all of the folks who've been invited to interview at Yale but finding it difficult to afford the trip. You are not alone!

    Yale MFA 2018

Yale reviews applications shortly after the deadline according to their website. So they should actually be wrapping up their selection for finalist interviews for all the departments.
  7. Wow, these programs aren't wasting any time and contacting finalist back this round. I'm down for a Chicago link up!

    Yale MFA 2018

@mrpoopybutthole I only applied to Yale this year, this is my third application season and hopefully my last. Withdrew and turn down offers in the previous years. Wish I could've applied for another program that I was excited about but just couldn't budget for another app. A few year ago someone noted that Yale gets close to 500 applications for painting/printmaking alone.

    Yale MFA 2018

Yale is one of the few programs that I like that I haven't applied to yet.
  10. @nmelnicky Naw, I'm just another Yale painting applicant! And I'm so excited about your SAIC fashion application, good luck and keep us updated!

    Yale MFA 2018

Thanks for starting this! First time Yale applicant here, been waiting for the right time to apply! 8 more days to Yale decision weeks!
  12. YeASSS!! I'm really nosy so come through with those websites ya'll! Check me out @ www.alexanderkevinwrencher.com @nmelnicky Judging by your work you may already be aware of this program, SAIC Master of Design in Fashion, Body, and Garments. I'm pretty critical of SAIC as a whole, but their fashion program is amazing and the work that comes out of that department is the strongest at SAIC.
  13. Part of my methodology for applying to schools is considering the cost, and if I can afford the tuition, often times the answer is hell, no, thus those schools are crossed off my list. No need to invest in an expensive application fee if I'm going to get possibly stuck with a tuition bill that I can't afford in the first place.
  14. Yale has closed offices on Thursday, January 4 due to a snowstorm. The Office of Academic Administration will monitor emails regarding application issue you might have.
  15. @lynn56 Applied to Yale painting last week and paid that crazy $100 application fee! It's pretty much Yale or nothing, can't afford to pay for another app. My non MFA applications include the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Skowhegan and Fine Arts Work Center.
  16. Yes, us and 500 other Yale painting/printmaking applications.
  17. It's really hard to say yes or no without seeing the work. I have work in my portfolio from 2015 and they're still significant and strong enough pieces to even include in my 16 image portfolio for Yale.
  18. The freak forum is so quiet this year, even more so than the last year!!!! haunted Try UMichigan, it's a public school that seems to be on the rise. its avant-garde, conceptual and research-intensive eccentric program. Most are the artist accepted seemed to have an interdisciplinary studio practice. 5 candidates receive amazing funding opportunities including the following, 100% Tuition Waiver $85,060, Stipend $18,343 (divided into 4 semesters), Health Care Benefits $4,157, Stamps Discretionary Funds $4,000 ($2,000 per year), MFA International Project $4,500. It's also important to note that I couldn't identify notable alumni during my research or even recent grads that are on the national or international stage. However, their writing program is a creative writing powerhouse!
  19. I'm a visual artist and poet here! While I will be applying for visual art MFA programs, I saw that Brown has a "Cross-Disciplinary" in literary arts. Does anyone know more about Brown's Cross-Disciplinary program, I see that they only accept one student....
  20. Did anyone attend Yale open house?!! If so, give us the 411, saw that it reached capacity this year!
  21. I'm applying as soon as the application opens so that I'll only have to pay $20! Will be my first time applying to Skowhegan and I know it's super competitive!
  22. MFA application opened up this month!!! Who's ready for 2018 freak-out forum?
  23. Thanks for sharing your artist website. MFA programs are very competitive. Maybe wait 3-5 or more years before applying! Looks like you're just getting starting there's no rush. Good luck!
  24. You should post images of your work and an artist statement. Attending National Portfolio day annually will also prove to be very helpful and could potentially serve as a resource
