I got into Georgetown!! AHHHH! Is this really happening?

I've been trying to do something nice for myself every time I get a rejection. Ya know, to soften the blow and all. After I was rejected from Boston College, I finished a whole puzzle about Revolutionary War sites (http://www.amazon.com/White-Mountain-Puzzles-American-Revolution/dp/B0009STH6G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424995973&sr=8-1&keywords=revolutionary+war+puzzle)
 
I just saw my rejection from UVA. Heartbreaker. I am very interested in Grace Hale's studies on whiteness and race in the American South... oh well... So, now I'm considering treating myself to a presidential campaign button, like this Teddy Roosevelt First Voters Club from 1904: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111475353163?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
This may ease the pain... but oh, to study in the halls where TJ once walked!

Haha thanks for volunteering me! I'd love to have a get together! The logistics of getting us all in one central location are daunting. I vote for California!

Haha, you are modest! That many acceptances cannot be a fluke.
 
We need a gradcafe get-together...I reckon you should be in charge of organizing it. 

Looks like I won't have to get that Master's after all. Just got accepted to Maryland's PhD program. Woohoo!

I applied specifically to work in the Race, Law and History program at U-M. I look at the ways in which the meaning of race was changed and codified as a result of economic demands due to colonial and imperial pressure and the ways in which law was used as a strategy to block groups of people from achieving status in society.
 
Short story: racism is part of our law. it was put there as a feature, not a bug.

What is up with these schools? Why can't UVA send e-mails at least prompting a visit to the website when their official decision is made? I get that not all schools will be as considerate as Emory in sending a very nice letter directly to our inboxes, but UVA can at least go the route Duke took and send an e-mail telling the applicant to check the website. While I didn't receive my official status today, I feel for those who did by stumbling upon their decision on the website. Those of you who were rejected, let us know if and when you receive any other communication about UVA's final decision. I'm curious to see if they will send e-mails later.

I agree Aubstopper.  Ashiepoo is the rock star of this admissions cycle for sure. 6/13 is a heck of a percentage.

Well I'm glad you've been accepted into both! Now the hard part is trying to decide. When do you plan on making your official/final decision?

Yeah it does, but worst comes to worst if I got to NCSU I can probably get a part time job. Possibly even at one of the museums or historic sites. And yes, I hope GWU offers me something.

BTW I don't mean to denigrate the good folks at SE MO St., but for the LOVE OF HISTORICAL ACCURACY, now is not the time to be sending out mass emails like that!!!

Thanks Heimat, that's what I keep telling myself. I'm starting to lose a bit of hope. UNC was always a stretch for me, and Emory it seems has already announced acceptances. But there is always hope!  I appreciate the kind words and support. This is such a great group.

How did you find out this was how I chose potential doctoral programs?????
