Meinrad got a reaction from Cloud_Cult in Contacting faculty beyond POI
So, I was dealing with this question a couple weeks ago. I had a couple good interactions with a potential POI I would like to work with at one of my top schools, and then learned my thesis advisor had close relationships with other people within their program. Long story short, I emailed them also---I sent similar emails to them, I just left out things like "are you taking on new students for advising", but still engaged their work, etc. So far it's gone really well, and now I feel like I am (at the very least) somewhat known by a few different profs....I say go for it. Just don't ask them all to potentially advise your future dissertation or whatever.

Meinrad reacted to oddnumber in Fall 2016 Applicants: Introduce Yourselves
    Hi everyone!
I'm the new admin for the private Facebook group for women-identifying applicants. If you would like to join, please private message me and I will add you to the group. The aim is to create a supportive space for women-identifying applicants, and it includes useful information about the climate at different departments.
Just a little bit about me: I'm currently in my final year at Oxford studying Maths and Philosophy, and my main interests are in Philosophy of Mind and Early Modern Philosophy. I also enjoy formal work, and am keen to delve deeper into ethics and epistemology.

Meinrad reacted to xypathos in Theology/Disability programs
State side: absolutely Mary Jo Iozzio at Boston College. She's absolutely amazing and I cannot recommend her enough!
If you're willing to travel to Europe, University of Aberdeen has a PhD in Practical Theology where you could focus on disability and theological issues. Contact John Swinton, he oversees the Practical Theology program and is very warm and open to talking with prospective students.

My partner is currently doing a PhD in Disability Studies through Syracuse University - when it comes to theological issues, Mary at BC is the go to person from her experience.
