honeydewthis got a reaction from esopha in Clinic dress code
Some additional considerations (relating to certain fashion trends): no shoulder cutouts, no shirts that have low fronts or backs (i'd also avoid ones that feature cut-outs in those areas), make sure you wear closed toes shoes that also cover your heel, no sheer tops that show your bra, dresses should fall at least to a couple inches above your knees. "From-fitting" professional pants are OK as long as they have pockets (or at least the illusion of), zipper, button, and belt loops. Leggings aren't okay alone unless you're wearing dress with it.
Honestly, I just bought a few things that I designated as my "clinic outfits" and wore them when I had clinic. Boring, yes, but it also saved me from the stress of putting together a variety of professional attire.

SUPER REJECTED last year, cried a lot, then got my shit together, did research on my only time off, took a part time job just to be able to do it,  retook my GRE, re did my statement and got new letters and VOILA. I got in. Its been real, I spend four years thinking I was going to medical school and then did a 180, decided that I shouldn't do it to make my parents happy and went back to night school to get my pre-reqs. Ive been on cloud nine. I feel like I am finally complete.

Have hope everyone, it happens, just takes hard work. Rejection didn't kill me it made me stronger.

YOU GUYS! I got my first non-rejection! I was wait-listed at La Salle. Does anyone know any additional information on how La Salle's waitlist process works? I'm wondering if I have an actual chance or if it's likely to turn into gentle rejection.

I honestly expected to have heard from two or three schools by the end of this week. This is torture. I am so tired of constantly waiting *sigh*

Hey guys. I got my first rejection just now. I know it's nothing personal and it's numbers and whatnot but I just feel really, really sad and inadequate. This process is taking a serious toll on the self-esteem that I have worked so hard to build up. It just sucks.

Hi, you might be over thinking it. I am sure they are going to look more into it than putting our application in an excel spread sheet and sorting it from greatest to least. In example they care about your extra curricular activities, how many languages you speak, leadership opportunities you've been exposed to, clinical experiences, LOR, and many other things.

Thank you both for your insight!
SLPgradstudent- I am applying for the 2/15 deadline. I have all the materials in besides the SOP, but my lack of ASL experience caused a moment of hesitation. I like your idea of showing interest in ASL & the deaf community, and I will also express my desire to learn as much as I can before the program starts. I am particularly interested in language-based learning disabilities, as well as auditory-processing disorder. Both of which I think ASL could be useful in providing an alternative method of communication for.

A 5.0GPA, undergrad research leading to the cure for cancer, be the MVP of the school football team, save puppies from burning buildings, and also have hobbies (with trophies) because you are a well-rounded person despite all the time the rest of those things took up.
But really, I have no clue. I see people with 4.0 GPAs and internships and I think that's fantastic and they're definitely getting in. Then they say they got rejected and I'm like... Oh. Okay. I'm just gonna sit here and hope for a miracle then.
On a side note, that volunteer experience sounds amazing. I would love to have a chance to volunteer with aphasia patients! It's something I've been super interested in since learning about it in my Psych of language class!

Wow!  Nope, haven't heard back yet, but it does look like they've sent my app to the grad school.
OMG, I swear, I was halfway through typing this when my phone notified me that I had an email.  Me: "Oh good, another email that probably isn't an acceptance."
WRONG!!!!  I just got into UMD!!!!!!!!!  And then I fell off the face of the earth for an hour while I did a happy dance and called everybody and their grandmother (or at least my grandmother!)
Thank you all for your amazing support!  You guys rock, and I hope you get your good news soon!
