  1. Accepted to University of Arkansas via email on 3/25.
  2. I was rejected from UConn on March 10th (via both email and portal) and was waitlisted at Saint Louis University (via email) last night (March 16th). I would solicit UConn at this point and give it a couple of days for SLU. Best of luck.
  3. Accepted to the Ph.D. program at SUNY Albany.
  4. First, I am sorry you were shut out. Been there and know it can be devastating; quite easy to take the outcome personally. My two cents: I would talk to your advisors--especially if any of them work in Continental philosophy--and see if they have recommendations/insight on a program that would be suitable to your interests and professional goals. If anything, they should be able to give you a sense for how you could improve upon your applicant packet between cycles. As far as Philosophy programs, have you looked into DePaul, Marquette, or University of South Florida? These programs are strong in Continental philosophy and the history of philosophy. If your interests extend broader than philosophy proper, maybe look into an interdisciplinary program (PPE) or American Studies. I have a dear friend with similar interests to yours who wanted to do either history or philosophy in a doctoral program. He's doing a Ph.D. in American Studies at Yale now and has taken some of his coursework in the philosophy dept. (he might even have one philosophy prof on his dissertation committee). That's just an idea (don't throw stones at me, people). Maybe a PPE program or something interdisciplinary could equip you to teach across disciplines... Don't give up. I wish you well!
  5. Waitlisted at Marquette (Ph.D.).
  6. Waitlisted at Purdue via email.
  7. Any idea of your desired emphasis within Hebrew Bible/OT? That might make a difference in how others advise you.
  8. Boston University has apparently sent letters of acceptance, rejection, and waitlist notices to applicants. As an applicant, if I have not heard anything at this point, what could this mean?
  9. I received this email yesterday from Villanova's Ph.D.: "We have now completed phase one of this year’s admissions cycle and I am pleased to inform you that you are among this year’s semi-finalists for admission with funding. Congratulations!" Has anyone here been through the interview process at VU? Also, I am unsure if this means I am interviewing for the sake of funding and could receive an offer regardless of the funding package (I have gathered that they admit students without funding). Anyone with experience/knowledge of Villanova, I would appreciate your insight. Thanks

  11. Rejected from Texas A&M. Sheryl Crow was right: the first cut is the deepest...
  12. Accepted (via email) to University of South Florida Ph.D. Program in Philosophy. Graduate Assistantship (Full-Funding) 1A /0R /0W of 13
  13. Declined offer to Boston College M.A.
  14. FOR STUDENTS ACCEPTED TO YALE DIVINITY SCHOOL: I am a second year student in the MAR program, graduating in May. Feel free to PM me with questions about the program, life in New Haven, campus life, student organizations, etc. I know this is a difficult decision for some of you. To be best of my ability, I'd love to help you get a better sense of what to expect if you come to YDS. Best to everyone!
  15. Rejected from Syracuse. Had one Skype interview, two phone interviews with my professor of interest (both of which exceeded an hour of positive conversation), and woke up to a rejection letter. Beyond devastated, feeling like I've been strung along for the last two weeks.
  16. If it has been a month since you've seen an acceptance on here for one of the schools you've applied to, should you solicit? What's the etiquette for soliciting to find out about your status?
  17. Rejected from Brown University. Not cool, man, not cool.
  18. Just received an e-mail inviting me to (Skype) interview for the Ph.D. in Religion at Syracuse University.
  19. Haven't heard anything from U Kentucky or Boston College. After seeing that multiple people have already received offers and/or interviews, should I go ahead and assume that I have been rejected?
  20. Rejected from Baylor via email. It's an honor to be the first rejected person in this thread. I'm sure you'll hear from me again soon.
  21. Waitlisted at Michigan State (not exactly sure where I fall)
  22. Waitlisted at Michigan State. Received email from graduate program director this morning.
  23. Can anyone confirm receiving news from Michigan State? If we haven't heard something, should we solicit or is it still too early?
