I'm also recently admitted to the PhD in ACS.

I'm not sure how it is in ACS, but in Pop C, I'm pretty sure everyone gets funding. Given this generosity, I'd find it odd if they didn't give PhD students funding.
Now, the Pop C. stipend isn't exactly what I'd call fantastic, but Bowling Green isn't too expensive, either.

Good advice. I don't think I'll do the night driving part, though, just because I have literally watched every season of iD's Disappeared and that's how every woman in every episode winds up kidnapped.

Guys, I have huge news, though. I got into my chosen program. Shaking, crying, and in utter disbelief. Much love and good luck to you all, and may the Ides of March be ever in your favor. <3

A tip to those driving long haul who typically don't.... Quick dry workout clothes are your friend. Obviously not the confining underclothes... Just the outerwear. It's breathable and doesn't get sticky in the car... Especially if you have leather/pleather.

I counted how many days I have to wait until the program I applied to said they generally send out notifications. Then I counted how many business days. Then I thought of all the work I could do on my house on the weekends to distract me until that date. Then I decided to train for a 5K. I'm reading two different trashy novels right now, doing some hardcore clockwatching, and trying to beat my best score on Alto's Adventure.
Like, the next few weeks are going to be PAINFUL. I almost don't even care if I get in, I just hate not knowing yet.
    (That's a lie. I care if I get in.)

Welcome to the month of Ides, when wind blows
and doth calls softly, easing us to hear
    a cacophony of yesses or nos;
    the separation from misery nears.

Happy Leap Day, everyone! Heed the advice of Leap Day William and take a chance today! Or watch a Quantum Leap marathon or something. I think it's still on Netflix.
As we wind down on Februgatory, may we reflect on  what we've learned lo these 29 days. Waiting is agony, and sometimes rejection is sweeter when it means the blessed relief from pain (I wouldn't know; I'm still waiting).
I'm feeling positive about this week, though, as Friday is March 4th, the only date all year that's a complete sentence. Ranking right up there with May the 4th and its connection to the Force.
Ah, but what else doth March ring in? Yea, the Ides. I declare all of March past the 4th to all be the Ides of March, despite it technically being only the 15th. For I fear that after this week, if we haven't heard, it's probably a whole lotta not good. Listen to your soothsayer, Caesar, and maybe don't let Brutus near the weapons.

Ladies and Gents! Stop checking your emails and go watch the Academy Awards instead. I think the admission committee is enjoying themselves some Oscars themselves. By the way, can someone let me know who won the "Best Movie" award?

Februgatory is in its last hours, even if we count up through Monday. I am in the last hour of when I was told notices might go out (a vague "next week" thing last week, and thus we are at the end of it). All hope gone. I just want them to put me out of my misery.
On the plus side, my spouse just got a really awesome job offer this morning, so even if I'm stuck in my current bleak darkness for another year, at least we will be making some phat ca$h.
(Honestly, though, I'd live in poverty if I could be living my dream... )
