  1. That's because I told him to fuck off in another post. :o)I'm totally over his crap.

  2. UVa doesn't require the subject test absolutely...at least not for medieval lit applicants. I emailed the graduate coordinator in the English department (who happens to be a medievalist! ;op ) to ask specifically before I applied, and she said they definitely would consider an application with my medieval experience without the GRE subject test. So there's a glimmer of hope still t...

  3. I'm so sorry to hear of your news from Yale. :o( Still hoping for you!

  4. Awww, I'm so sorry to hear of your Yale news. :o( But still, don't give up hope! UVA hasn't weighed in at all yet. Hang in there!!

  5. :o( I'm saying extra prayers for Bloomington, then. But surely you'll get into one of them!!!!
  6. lol comes....! lolStupid 400 word limit on comments. ;op

  7. well, whoever s/he is, s/he will have that ass handed back to him or her once s/he gets to grad school. They don't like that 'tude much.

Thanks for the well wishes; I have little hope, as the English dept. there usually seems to email good news and send bad through the post. But....I'm not physically holding a rejection yet, so I choose to be self-delusional. Until the email com...

  8. NOOOOOO! I'm so sorry to hear that. I was hoping so hard you would get in. :o( :o( :o( Where else are you waiting on now?

  9. lol, Seadub is insane. I swear, I';m moments away from hitting "ignore" and having done with it....except then I'd miss the train wrecks that make waiting for accepts so much more bearable...! tee hee.

And BTW....I'm a woman. Although I'm pleased that you have found my prose to be worthy of a man's abilities...! ;op ;op ;op

  10. SHIT...looking at the results forum, all accepts from the English dept to date were handled via email....everything since has been a rejection via post. I may cry...

  11. You could......lol I'm tempted to call them, myself! It's just mean...why not an email???

  12. And don't count yourself out until you are holding a rejection in your hand. HANG IN THERE!!!

  13. My status changed this afternoon. For better or for worse, UNC has decided on me. I didn't think I would be this emotional about it, I was fairly blase throughout most of this, a little anxious but not too bad. but now....ACK. I wish they'd just email and tell me straight out!! :o(

  14. And imagine being me....my status has not changed since 12/9/09...what did they do, lose my application?! :oO Am I the only one whose status didn't change? ACK.

  15. hehe, stupid 400 word limit on comments! I think not, on the emailing. I want to with all my being, but I don't think it would do any good and might just irritate already-overloaded folks in the department. That's my thinking on it, anyhow. Though - I surely want to!! lol I am at the point where I figure, if I'm in, I'm in, if not emailing won't help.

  16. I hope so!!!! I'd love to see you get in there! I will say, the UNC faculty is slightly older, especially the medieval cohort, so it's possible they would like older candidates to work with because younger ones can get awfully annoying....! lol Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

  17. Catholic is in Washington, D.C., and is a member of the consortium, so essentially via admit there, I've gotten in at George Mason, George Washington, American, U of Maryland, Gallaudet, and whatever the other one up there is - can take classes at all/any to count towards my degree if I end up there. Logistics may be a problem, so still hoping for UNC or UVA...but thrilled, nonetheless. :o)

  18. I haven't heard about funding yet; I think they require the FAFSA first, so I have to file. It feels good and is a relief to have an admit under my belt. CUA was a reach school for me logistically, so we're hoping still for UNC or UVA, which would not require moving and/or commuting...but this year, in this climate, I'm not taking this admit for granted at ALL!!

  19. Yes, I'm in at CUA. No word on funding, and there are a looooot of conversations between DH and me that would have to happen for me to accept, but at the very least I can calm down and focus knowing I did get an admit somewhere. And for you - hey, we're practically the same age, so clearly age is not an issue - hang in there!!!!!

  20. lol it cut me off - was going to write I'm delighted you got an accept! :o)

  21. I know...I once posted facetiously that they must determine accepts based on your Zodiac sign's compatibility with that of your potential advisors, or perhaps based on whether or not you used the term "ice cream" in your SOP....I'm starting to wonder if I mightn't have been right after all, because really, this makes no sense to me! lol I'm hopeful, though, and I...

  22. Congratulations - saw your status update- you've heard good news, then? :o)

  23. No, I haven't heard anything. Nothing in my mailbox today. I'm hoping against hope that is a good sign. It's my absolute first choice, so I'm going mad over here....! What's your focus?
