I haven't talked to anyone else who has gotten in or is going yet. I was deciding between Cranbrook and SAIC, but along with the funding from Cranbrook, I was really impressed by the rigor of the program (40 hours minimum in the studio per week!), and the intimate nature of the program and school. It seemed to me like a pretty unique place; a close-knit community of only grad students (about 140 total I think) where everyone knows each other, and the students + Artists-in-Residence not only work but live alongside one another. The campus is also so beautiful! It struck me as the perfect setting to really focus and produce without distraction. When I visited for the interview, everyone was so generous, welcoming, and supportive. That really impressed me too. Anyways, good luck with your decision, and let me know if you decide on Cranbrook! You have some really amazing options, so I don't think you can go wrong no matter which school you choose ?
Congrats! I didn’t realize Cranbrook has funding - is it enough to cover tuition and living expenses?

Yes. It’s a little different each year, but I believe Photography accepts only 2 people, Painting and Sculpture 3-4 each and Transmedia seems to accept about 2-3 people.

While there, I had a feeling 1-2 accepted people were looking for something different and might reject their offers.
Was this a campus visit for the incoming cohort? Do you know how many people are accepted for each area?

For people who have gotten into all/most of their programs - would you mind sharing any tips about how you approached your apps? I’m on the waitlist at a couple places and am thinking I may have to apply again next year. Would love any advice I can get, especially if you applied to any of the big schools and got interviews or have been accepted. Feel free to PM me if you don’t feel comfortable posting here. Wow congrats! Would you be willing to tell us how the process has been with them? What was the interview like? How did you approach the application? Is there funding? There’s so little info about them on these boards and it would be amazing to have some insight.

also, this is where i'm at right now:
university of minnesota- accepted 1/28 (no interview)
ut austin - interviewed 2/5
university of pennsylvania - interviewed 2/13
northwestern - rejected
university of chicago - nothing
What area did you apply to? For UT Austin there have been acceptences to painting and photo on this board. I interviewed with painting on 2/2 and haven’t heard anything so guessing waitlist or rejection at this point.

That’s amazing! I’m really curious how you approached your essays - did you end up submitting the optional personal history statement? Did you list faculty you wanted to work with at the program? These were things I was super unsure about through the process.

They said, "Thanks for your message, the department expects to send out notification to all applicants in mid-March. The department does not have a formal interview process for finalist applicants – in the event that they would like to hold an interview, faculty will contact applicants directly via email or phone over the course of the next few weeks. Interviews are typically conducted by phone or Skype."
Not sure if this still means you have to get an interview to get accepted? It's a little unclear.
Yea it seems like the past couple years some people were just accepted by phone or email, others had a phone interview or chit chat phone call. So mysterious! Thanks for emailing though!

Has anybody heard about being waitlisted at UT Austin for painting? I know acceptances went out and I haven’t heard anything so I’m bracing for waitlist or rejection. Just hoping I could still be in the running for a waitlist spot at least...

I checked last year forum and rejection letters were sent March 9. Last year a friend of a friend received interview letter last week of February and he had his interview March 15.
