I decided to attend UW Evans on my side! I really liked all that they had to offer and I feel like with the MPA degree, I'll have better options for employment post graduation. I also think that Evans leads the anti-racism/inclusivity movement more than any other school I applied to which is why I want to go there more (I want to focus on socioeconomic issues between minority communities and how climate change/other environmental issues play a part in that).
I also have heard from other students that they contacted the admissions team and asked if there was any other funding available. I would tell them that another school offered you some funding too. I did this too and secured more funding on my side.
During the UW Evans visit day, it seems like the first quarter will be core classes and then you are able to dive into electives during the winter quarter. I also like the idea of the quarter system vs the semester system. It's only a 10 week commitment of classes and you can take more classes too. UW to me seemed the most flexible in terms of diving into other classes. The downside is that the Evans school isn't all environmentally focused like SEAS but I like the fact I can take other courses in non-profit management or social justice.
Plus, the location pulled me more than any other place I applied to. There are so many close national parks... I am very excited to move to Seattle.

I'm still choosing between YSE, Harvard (HKS), and Duke, but am leaning to YSE. Most people that I've chatted with seem to be accepting. The YSE admitted student group on FB is quite small (~120 people) and less than half the size of Duke's (250+), so it seems to have been a more competitive admission process. All those at YSE I've talked to are definitely more centered on EJ issues, and i've found that the YSE incoming class is far more diverse and progressive than what I've seen from other schools so far, especially HKS. That's a huge plus for me, since I'm focusing on Env Policy and Justice. This tracks with the pronounced focus on EJ at YSE and how it integrates with the other specializations.

Finally heard back from Bren yesterday night and got waitlisted there, too.
Note for those reading this thread in preparation for their application in a future year --- it seems like the schools are paying close attention to experience in the field (both undergrad and professional work experience). In my case, I am an older applicant with limited direct experience in environmental stuff. I do have 6+ years of management experience and high-level roles, but they are all in higher education administration. My app centered on making a case for transferring my skills into the environmental (I've been involved in some green initiatives on campus), but it wasn't enough. Good luck!

Thanks for the detail! I got the second letter too and no mention of funding. I checked their admitted students page and they mentioned giving scholarships to 30% of the class, I think it's lower than their average year. Anyhow, time to make decisions soon

Definitely agree with this. I applied to the same major four programs as Tiaki mentioned and I got an admit from all three except Yale. I am also switching fields with about 6 years of exp in finance, and though I had strong LORs and research exp, I believe a lack of direct environmental experience hurt the second essay in Yale (300 words) and my overall story. Even though SEAS three essays and Duke 15 things were a pain to write, I think it really helped me paint a clear picture of my past experience and future goals.

Got an acceptance from Bren a couple of hours ago! Didn’t expect they’d be releasing decisions past 5 pm PST, so it took me by surprise.

Still waiting on both of these. Got into Duke & waitlisted at Yale, but haven't heard a thing from SEAS (sustainable systems) or Bren. Hope we all find out soon!

It looks like all bets are off for when they are going to release decisions. Both Duke and SEAS already passed the dates they've sent out decisions in the previous cycles. So.. there could be a systematic delay that would drastically impact/delay the release date OR it's coming any minute now...

I'm so glad I'm not the only one compulsively refreshing everything! I'm not sure why they're delayed. I was in communication with Nicholas' financial aid people earlier this week and there was no mention of when results will release. They did imply a huge number of applicants applied for need-based aid, so there's that. I don't think that would impact decision releases, though, since in the past they've done decisions and then funding later.
I'm not sure at this point whether I would prefer to get all my results at once or not? If SEAS and Nicholas don't release today, the delay may make it more likely they'll be clustered with Bren. I'm stressed haha

Yes! Both Duke and SEAS seem to have started to release their decisions on the second Wednesday of Feb with many folks hearing by the second Friday. But this goes out the window if your contact is correct and they are in fact going to release decisions next week...

FWIW, I just received admittance to Bren for a PhD. Not an environmental person though, my research interests are much more focused on energy systems, which Bren has a little bit of.
