This was the answer I was looking for. So for my Verbal score, would I address that I wrote abstracts for posters and most of the parts on a manuscript? Or what classes can I address for verbal?

Also, I’m really bad at verbal so let’s say I retake it and I get another bad score what do I do then?

As I mentioned, I don’t have time to retake it. So what is the next best thing to do besides retake it?

Hello everyone! So here is my story: I am a second year clinical psychology graduate student applying to developmental, health, clinical, and counseling psychology, as well as Human Development and Family Sciences PhD programs this upcoming Fall. My components are as follows: - 3.71 undergraduate GPA (from an R1 institution) and a 4.0 graduate GPA - currently taking an additional statistics course as an elective about structural equation modeling -have had about 4 years of research experience, with a year and a half of experience working in labs that are my research interests -have about 7 posters (none first author) that are closely related to my research interest and a abstract submitted to a conference where I am first author that is my research interest - have 3 manuscripts in preparation, with one of them being submitted before I apply -have good letters of recommendation from my advisor, and two of my secondary mentors - am part of the Psi Chi honors society -the sucky part (idk if it is): GRE was 147V and 156Q and I’m waiting to get my writing score back. Should I be worried about my GRE scores? I cannot afford to take them again (since I have a busy semester). Would it make or break my application? Does my criteria make me a strong candidate in graduate school? Thank you!

I wanted to seek the community to ask about advice in applying to different PhD programs. - For Clinical and Counseling Psychology PhD: Do GRE's matter? Do connections matter? Also, if I go to a PhD program for clinical psychology in Canada and come back to the U.S., can I be a faculty and researcher at a institution in the U.S.? -I also wanted to apply to Human Development and Family Systems programs because my research interest matches well with that field. Can I still become a researcher and a faculty within a psychology department (since it is related)? Is it competitive to get into that program? Any information that you all can give me would be great! Also, would I be a great candidate for these programs? I currently am a M.A. student at a Clinical Psychology program, have a 4.0 graduate GPA (so far) and 3.7 undergraduate GPA, am a lab coordinator for a lab that focuses on sexual health, pain, romantic relationships in older adults, have 2 1/2 years of research experience before that, 6 poster presentation, and 4 manuscripts in preparation. I also am a graduate intern at a Mood and Anxiety Disorders clinic, and have had previous experience as a life coach at my alma mater's counseling center. Thank you!!

Hi everyone, I applied to MA programs in psychology and I wanted to know the acceptance rates of them . I have applied to these schools: CSUN Clinical Psych CSULA CSUDH CSUF USC MFT CSUN is my #1 choice school to go to, I went through the interview, but the waiting game is killing me (when I will hear back from other schools). If anyone has direct experience going through the application process for these programs or is a student under one of the programs listed above, please feel free to share your experience with me

@juhidee119 Yes, I will most likely go to a MA program within my state if I get accepted. I already have the book you're talking about, and some of the GRE score requirements are higher than the scores I have received. Most masters programs that I am applying to require me to do a thesis and work with different professors within the department

Hey everyone, I have a couple of questions to ask you all. I was wondering, how important are GRE scores in an application for counseling psychology? I have had mixed reviews, but it would be really really helpful if someone can give me their own experience on GRE and applying for PhD programs in counseling psychology (clinical psychology too, since I am planning to apply to some in the future). My next question is: How important is it to attend an MA program right before applying for the PhD? I don't have enough independent research experiences and close working relationships with faculty within labs, and my GPA is not competitive enough, so I decided to apply to MA programs in general psychology within my state (CA). Last question: How important is publications when applying to a PhD program in psychology? Thank you and congrats to the people that got accepted in programs!

Thanks everyone!! I had applied to the schools on my list already. @mav160 Thank you for the great advice! Each school, except for USC, has at least two professors that I would like to work with. My top choice is CSUN since it has a good reputation as a school and that I would be gaining the balance of practicum and research there. @NewPhD I wish I can go there but since I don't live around there that would be very costly for me, since I will be going on to a PhD... But thank you for the advice!

In other words, which school would help me gain rigorous research experience so that I can be a strong candidate for these programs? Thank you!
