    Hope someone can shed a light on this. I've been considering the Masters of Marketing Communication and Global Media Communication at the University of Melbourne. A lot of my friends went there but majored in other fields. My plan is to find work in the States, though. Funding at the University of Melbourne seems easy to get based on the people I know who have succeeded in getting it, but there are other sources, and perhaps a knowledgeable user can fill you in. You can e-mail your respective department and ask them about scholarships. All the best.

    My Bachelor degree is from Monash University, and I also plan on applying to the University of Melbourne for my Masters. While it's not in management, a few friends who took their Commerce Masters there had positive things to say about their program. Both the University of Melbourne and ANU are highly respectable. Do consider the course structure and see if the classes and assignment lists match your interest. For internships and job opportunities, you can shoot the department an e-mail to ask about potential employment. Each university usually forms a partnership with a number of companies and organizations, and they can arrange proper internship placements for students later in the program - you're also free to find one on your own if you like (based on my experience, and I assume that it'd be the same at a Masters level).     From my experiences in Melbourne, Australia and Pasadena, CA, I first came to live in my chosen apartments by myself for a couple months, then picked a classmate I've become good friends with (or a friend I've gotten to know outside of school) who happened to be looking for a place to stay later on. I've been informed by older friends and relatives who have gone to college earlier to never share a place with someone random. There were cases where my friends had to move back home, and I ended up having the place to myself again, and it felt great and liberating, but overall, I've had a wonderful time with the 2 friends I got to live with.

    Hi. I hope you have been getting your acceptance letter by now. It can be frustrating to have to wait that long. If you still haven't heard from USC, it's definitely okay to e-mail them and ask for your application status.

    Late to this thread as well. I'm also curious about the OP's choice. I'm particularly interested in Queen Mary and City, which is also part of the University of London. All the best to everyone.

    Hi! I wish I saw your post earlier on. We could have had a discussion I got an admit to the Publishing program at SPS. No GRE required thankfully, since I did not plan on taking a GRE. It should be an easy admit for you if you provide all the documents they ask. Let me know how you get on. I had to decline my offer due to the tuition cost and not wanting my family to pay that much for me, but I wish I have said yes. Hope you've gotten an acceptance letter by now.

    Glad this thread exists. Let me know which grad school you both decide on. All the best. I got accepted to NYU's Publishing program but it's too costly for me. Looking at Simon Fraser now. City University of London and the University of Melbourne also offer it.

    Don't worry. You'll fit in. A gap of several years is usually not a problem. You're able to gain new insights from your peers and vice versa. I once enrolled in an advanced diploma program where I was the youngest and most were over 10-20 years older. Hope you'll have a wonderful time still.

    I rely on my mood always. Whenever I feel inspired, that's the best time for me to get it all down on Word (or Final Draft if I'm writing screenplays). But at times I work best under pressure when deadlines are approaching.

    Hi. I'm considering applying for next Spring. My plans for Fall fell apart so I'd have to start all over again but this will give me enough time to be ready. My family has agreed to fund me but if I can get a little bit of scholarship that would be great. Have you been applying to different schools? All the best

    I hope you have heard from the remaining universities by now. My undergrad major is Communication, and I'd love to continue with a Publishing Masters from SFU. Or anything in Media/Film.

    Hi. You might like the Journalism program offered at Columbia University in NY. The University of Southern California in Los Angeles also has a Journalism program, including a specialized Arts Journalism MA that I'm interested in.

    Let's resurrect this thread Does anyone plan on applying to Melbourne universities or is there a Melbournian on this forum? I've had the pleasure of doing my B.A. at Monash University (got an Advanced Diploma from RMIT University as well), and I'm considering getting my Masters at the University of Melbourne. I heart the city, my local Australian friends (mates) and how easy it is to get around. If you're heading down under, I'd love to hear from you.

    Same here, I'm the first in my direct family with a BA. Most relatives have Bachelor degrees but only 1 has a Masters. At the moment I'm looking for an MS program (just explained my dad a couple days ago what a Masters degree is and what it can do for me haha). I have no plan on getting a Phd though. My Masters will be it.

    Agreed Age is never the limit when it comes to learning. I did an advanced diploma program when I was 17, and most of my classmates were 25-55. It feels great to learn from one another.

    I did my undergrad in Melbourne, Australia. Australians are the friendly type, my advisor included. She used to give me random hugs. It was great, and I felt welcome at the school (and in the city).

    Thanks so much for the info. Just like emily, I really dislike driving. I'm also looking at USC for my Masters (Annenberg to be specific). I've had the opportunity to live in LA for almost 3 years but I was at a music college in Pasadena back then, and Pasadena's easy to get around without a car, though I did get to visit other parts of LA every week due to having friends who drive (at times I would use the public transport). I'm actually terrified to drive so that's why I've considered doing grad school in NY but I miss LA and a lot of my friends are still there and have been asking for me to come back, so maybe I just need to get over my fear and start doing more driving before I head back there.

    English or Creative Writing would be a suitable option. A couple friends who majored in Drama applied for Creative Writing MFA programs. I'm looking at a few UK universities at the moment and happen to come across a Masters in Shakespeare Studies at King's College (London). You might be interested to check it out.

    Hi CPV. Enjoy grad school. While I'm not attending UIC, I can throw in my two cents when it comes to housing based on my experience living in Pasadena when I was enrolled at the California College of Music. Where you live depends on your personal preference. I myself lean towards independent living so I've always rented an apartment off-campus. There's so much freedom, and you can always invite friends over. I found my roommate two months into my program - we started becoming friends and shared the same classes so it all worked out. Again, it's up to you. Living on-campus can expose you to more students though, so if you crave a university vibe, on-campus would be great. All the best.

    If you can send each school an e-mail, you'll be able to get a response asap. While I've never applied to any London school (I might for next year), the ones I applied to e-mailed me their decisions in 2-3 weeks. Try contacting them. They should get back to you real quick, especially since it has been a month since you applied.
