Yes, programs that you applied to and/or interviewed for may not be contacted after the matching process.  I think this is because if they have open spots and you ranked them that means they did not rank you OR they have open spots and you did not rank them (and why would you not rank a program you wanted to go to).  You can only contact  programs that you did not previously apply to (even if you applied and they didn't offer you an interview).  Basically starting from step one.  Seems kind of scary but I guess its how to the unmatched process for residents goes as well.  They call it "the scramble".

I don't think you're allowed to tell them where you're ranking them, just that you are ranking them.  This is from the rules e-mail they sent out "Neither party may disclose to the other party or solicit from the other party any information regarding the positioning of any applicant or program on a Rank Order List. For example, you cannot say "I will rank you first on my list" or "You are in my top-3 choices"."
I personally haven't told any program that I'm planning to rank them, but I do plan to rank all the programs I interviewed with.

Last year I decided that if I got any interviews I'd tell my boss "By the way, I applied to grad school and I just got an interview and might be getting more and will have to take time off last minute." He has been super supportive about it ever since and was disappointed for me when I didn't get in last year to.  This year he knew ahead of time that March would be crazy for me, and has been really accommodating about me taking time off all over the place.
If you don't feel comfortable telling your boss that you're interviewing, maybe you could just say it was a last minute family vacation that would mean a lot to you? Or if you're taking a bunch of single days you could say it's for a bunch of "appointments" and then hopefully no further questions will be asked.
Most places I'm trying to fly in to after work in the evening before the interview (or leave work a little bit early) and then try to fly back home right after the interview finished.  For both Colorado and Wisconsin I have to stay an extra night, because neither of them have flights to Toronto in the evening.

Did you consider counseling with Crisis Text Line?   Its great because you can do it from anywhere after your online training.  I am behind in this forum so someone else may have already suggested it.

I just wanted to say to everyone...though this process SUCKS and is mentally and emotionally draining...I hope everyone can become a GC (sounds cheesy I know). I think we could all offer some great things to this field. It is extremely competitive but we will get through this! I just know I need some motivation right now with this process and I am sure everyone else does too!

Well I am officially giving up on this round of applications. Honestly the first rejection hurt the most but, strangely, now I am feeling energized about making my application better for next year and in desperate need of ways to fill a couple gaps I see now in retrospect. Lets hope this feeling of resilience sustains me over the next few months!! Also in the Colorado rejection email they stated they would write personalized application comments starting in JUNE! I know they have a lot on their plates but holy cow, I don't know if I can wait that long! Until then, congrats to everyone with interviews, hope they all go well.   *patiently waiting for the Genetic Counseling Fall 2019 Applicants thread to be born*

You still have 4 schools to hear from! But that's an awesome attitude to have. Many of us are second time applicants and you will learn a lot about your application when you ask. I waited until the beginning of May to ask, when I applied two years ago. I decided not to apply last year because it often takes a long time to set up volunteer positions and shadowing (if that's where you lack like I did) and I'm glad I didn't rush it. Good luck on the rest of your schools!

So today had a weird turn of events, its was my second time applying and out of the six schools I had applied to this year I had received 5 rejections in a row. I had started to map out my plan B since it seemed Genetic Counseling was just not meant to be and then all of a sudden I received an interview from Indiana State this morning. To all of you feeling down right now,  trust me I know and understand the pain of rejection, I have received nothing but rejection (5 last year and this year) but there's hope and hard work will pay off.

Hi there!  Congratulations on your Rutgers and Sarah Lawrence interviews.  I am also curious about Mount Sinai as I have applied there as well.

Hey Y'all, Finally decided to create an account after months of stalking.
I've applied to Augustana, Thomas Jefferson, Bay Path, and UCI and haven't heard a peep from anyone yet! Starting to get a bit nervous!
Congrats to everyone getting interviews already!

Yeah, I think KGI and Baylor have a good chance of getting accrediation by then. Arizona may just barely miss it. If so, they'll be participating in the second match with applicants who interviewed with them. (So if you still participate in match and for some reason, don't get in, there's still hope lol). And I'd assume all of them will do the same IF they don't get accredited in time

Hello Aspiring GC's!  Its been several days so it took me almost an hour to catch up on all the recent posts!  Congratulations to all of you who have been getting interview invitations!  I will be happy if I get one or two more interview invitations this cycle ~ thrilled if I get up to four, but for now I am focusing on preparing for the one that I do have.  I have my first mock interview scheduled.  So far, interviewing has not been my strong suit, but I'll be doing what I can to change that.
Suggestions from you great interviewers out there would be most welcome!
