I think they've only sent out rejections to those they interviewed but did not admit. Does that help at all?

Geez, this thread went from high anxiety generating to deeply toxic. Feels good that I avoided the forums this time around. My condolences to all the real humans that had to sit through the toxic troll fest.
Good luck with the arduous path of an academic life for those who will be starting the PhD this year, and my best wishes to those who will try again with applications next year around. I applied to 12 programs last year, and got rejected from all. This time around I applied to 10, and got accepted to 2 programs ranked in the 10s and 2 programs ranked in the 30s. I am really excited about this, especially given that I got into one of my dream schools! Amazing things can happen...

Would you mind sharing what changed in your application or tactic? I know a lot of people on here would be interested!

I come here to read about the progress of applications, information of fundings, how prospective students and admits decide colleges, how rejected students cope and apply again. In a way I come here with an assumption that this is not facebook or twitter but a forum for emerging social scientists to exchange information and engage in a dialogue. Its disheartening to see quarrels and fights. I am sure both of you have different views on the issue and all the right to express yourself. But for the sake of others and myself as well  it would be my sincere request to use personal messages for such an exchange. Lets us not use the affordance of anonymity in employing vulgarity and personal comments.

To my knowledge, no. I posted the top 20ish programs' decision dates (which I found through this site's results page) in another thread and if those data are correct/complete, it looks like Indiana and Chicago are the only programs in that group that interview. I know Notre Dame interviews as well. I'll go through and create an equivalent list for programs ranked 20-40 later this week, I think.

TL;DR: You'd think it would be very common, but it isn't. I think it's more common in other disciplines, though.
