I just declined Tufts's exceptionally late offer.

As I noted in another thread, I have accepted Indiana University's offer.

I've accepted the offer from Indiana University! Consequently I've turned down the offer from Brandeis and removed myself from waiting lists at UW-Madison, Michigan State, CU-Boulder, UC Davis, and the University of Virginia. I hope that helps someone here. It's been great to have an outlet for all the frustration this process caused, and to have more people who understand what I'm going through to share these moments with. I wish you all the very best, and perhaps I'll (unknowingly) meet some of you again in the future. Cheers!

I know at Indiana there will be movement on Sunday, since I need to let them know my answer by 9 am EST Sunday. Maryland's deadline was 10 am EST Sunday.

Thanks! I was not told in the original notification, but after the visit I was told I was told I was fourth on the waitlist.

I've been admitted off the waitlist at Indiana! I'm very happy about this offer and will likely accept, but I'm still waiting to hear back about a fellowship at Brandeis and a couple of waitlists that might change my mind.

I declined an offer with a TAship from Maryland (PhD), as well as a fellowship offer from UW-Milwaukee (MA).

I've been sending solicitations with roughly this format and almost always gotten replies.

I wish I knew the answer to that question (incoming jumbled thoughts). Assuming none of my remaining waitlists come through, I'm leaning towards one of the MAs but not decisively. This process is brutal, and while my odds after finishing one of those MAs would be good they aren't pristine. To be in at any PhD program is an accomplishment. I also resent the pedigree-bias that I have against Maryland, which makes me uncomfortable with declining their offer. On the other hand, I should probably scrap for every advantage that isn't unethical, knowing how difficult this business is, and it certainly wouldn't be unethical to choose, say, Brandeis over Maryland. As for the the last question, I think I would be very likely to accept Madison or Bloomington should they come knocking, but I don't think I would immediately say yes to any of them. I would want to at least sleep on it, assuming it isn't April 15 and I don't have time to do that.

I just declined an offer of funding from VA Tech. Hopefully someone who wants it gets in off the waitlist.

I turned down an offer from Virginia Tech and took myself off the waitlist at UConn.

Perhaps they are also using a pool, but they understand that we're trying to make decisions and that it's very unlikely any one of us will be chosen so we're better off thinking of Arizona as a rejection.

I think this is the right answer. I received a similar email which, rereading your earlier posts, actually seems to be exactly the same wording, except that I am #4 on the waitlist "as things now stand."

I almost forgot why I came here. Accepted to Brandeis with a $20k scholarship, TAship, and fellowship nomination.

This. This didn't click until my second campus visit, but once it did I felt so much better and was actually reasonably comfortable and competent during the visit. We already put ourselves out there with our applications and came out the other side. On the visit it's their turn to be in the hot seat.

I couldn't say. It worked out for me, and in his signature on the email he listed himself as director of graduate admissions, so he probably was the best person to email.

I solicited the response from Graeme Forbes on March 8, he got back to me right away saying that I was on their waitlist but he wasn't sure where because they hadn't ranked it yet. He also said that they had already made their first round of offers. That was almost three weeks ago though, I'm sure things have changed a bit since then.

I've been absent from the site due to a combination of being busy and intentionally avoiding it (I've come to believe this is an unhealthy thing for me to do, at least too frequently). I figured for accuracy's sake and for other people I should share an update on my admissions decisions. I've been accepted to VA Tech and SF State, the former with a TAship and the latter with a teaching associateship. I expect I will decline both this week but I'm not 100% sure. I've been waitlisted at CU Boulder, University of Virginia, UConn, Michigan State, and University of Houston. I was also chosen by UW-Milwaukee to receive the AOP Fellowship; before I had merely been nominated by the department and it wasn't a sure thing. I plan to decline/take myself off of waitlists for all but a few of these by the end of the month. I apologize to people who are desperately waiting to hear back from them.

I'm waitlisted at the University of Washington. They notified me via generic email.

I'm annoyed by the amount of spam email I get from universities that either already have rejected me or almost certainly will, including universities I didn't even apply to. Vanderbilt and NYU, I'm looking at you.
