Probably not. I declined a master's offer last year and was accepted to their PhD this year.

I saw a lot of structural engineering rejections today. I applied for MST (Transportation). I don't see any MST posts in the results page. A friend who also applied for that program told me that he received a waitlist email at noon, but I still got nothing... I don't even know what to expect now. I just want this to be over.

They sent out a decision email yesterday saying "The graduate admissions process for the 2018-19 academic year is now complete." (Didn't get in but not really surprised). At this late in the game, you never know, but I wouldn't expect anything. Best of luck!

@strawberrykat I will probably attend Berkeley. Final decision will be after the visit day.
If MIT finally worked out and offered funding then I would probably go there.

@thanasist hi! Congrats on being admitted to UT! I believe most people are still waiting to hear back from the first three schools you mentioned, although I have seen some Berkeley posts.
As far as UMich, I do know they had their open house this past weekend but if you haven't heard back yet, that's still better than a no! Did you follow up with your interviewer?

I saw a post on the results page regarding MIT CEE. Apparently someone called them and got this information:
"Our admissions committee is making their final decisions within the next 1-2 weeks. We have been notifying applicants of their decisions as soon as a decision has been reached on their application."
Well, it seems that this year they are very procrastinating and we may not get any decision soon...

Berkeley's offer just arrived... MS guaranteed funding for the first 5 months.
This is totally unexpected, and greatly offsets my anxiety of waiting for MIT...

Yeah, I received an email. I applied for the EnvEng PhD program and got into the MS program. No mention about funding, but they offered to reimburse some expenses for the visit day.

    edit: left out some info

It is entirely a lie... According to historical data it should be this week, but who knows....

I agree, but I just can’t stop myself from refreshing the portal. And it always says “Congratulations your application is complete!” When I first saw this message in January I actually got excited, but then realized that it was not a congratulation for admission.

I really hope MIT will release their decisions this week... The waiting is painful.

Thanks! Did my undergrad there and the admissions officer was one of my past professors. Got a sweet financial package ($23k) and a GSI position in the Spring!

Berkeley has a dual masters Structural Engineering/Architecture program. That takes about 2 years. I believe all the CEE MS programs are one year by themselves, though.

Funding decision for UT Austin was released yesterday.
No news from MIT, Berkeley and U Washington yet.

@ibtes From my experience, usually how it works is faculty will reach out to you while they are reviewing your application to speak with you and get a feel for your research interests. In my case, all of these faculty members with the exception of one were professors that I had mentioned in my application. They tell you about some of the work they are currently doing/anticipating doing and try to gauge how interested you are, and whether you would be a good fit in their lab. In one case, a professor also had me speak with the graduate students in her lab. From my understanding, the faculty then submit a recommendation to the committee (i.e. they do or do not recommend you for the program). Some times there is a time gap between when the committee meets to make a decision and when they actually draft acceptance letters and send them out. During this period, the faculty that you have spoken to may email you and basically say "hey, you should except an acceptance letter in a few days!"
I think it depends on the school and whether or not you enter the program knowing what faculty you will work with or whether they do lab rotations during the first year.

I was admitted by UT Austin. My status was updated in the portal but no one from the department has not contacted me yet.

I saw in the results page that a PhD applicant was unofficially admitted by a professor at MIT. I haven’t heard anything from MIT though.
