I am still hanging on but I am trying to see if I can find a full time job in the field for now.

I had 925 hours of practicum experience, and about 100 hours of volunteer experience. In total, I would say about 1000 hours of social service experience.

My last name starts with P. I sent the graduate department an email asking for feedback. I am pretty sure I just didn't have enough experience, but no one will give me experience until I have my MSW.

It's always a good idea to have more volunteer experience if you have the time to do it and it would strengthen your application. I think your experiences are relevant to social work practice, and your research experience is definitely an asset. Knowing social work vocabulary will make it easier to understand the course-work so I would recommend becoming more familiar with the vocabulary for your own understanding.
I don't think you will have any trouble understanding the curriculum or doing well in the program with your communications degree.
I would suggest applying for post-grad BSW programs because it will open up more options for MSW programs. However, I would apply to an MSW program and have the post-grad program as your back-up. A lot of BSW programs will have placements so you will get more volunteer experience that way.

For those of you that were waitlisted for U of T. I have some information about the waitlist. I called Terry today asking about how decisions are made about the waitlist.
First, he informed me that the waitlist is not ranked because once a spot opens up, all the applications on the waitlist are reviewed again. This is because some people are still completing their degree and may update their GPA/ send in another transcript. He could not tell me how many people are on the waitlist because the admissions committee did not provide that information. Also, there is a good chance that nobody will get off the waitlist until early June. The government made a new law stating that no school can ask for a deposit before the first week of June because many people are still waiting for other acceptances from other schools.
I asked about the acceptance for the advanced standing program and he said that it is much higher than the two-year MSW. This year, they accepted 80 or 90 people out of 350 for the Advanced Standing Program. They accepted 130 out of 800 for the 2-year MSW.
He told me that year someone started completing a 1-year BSW and got off the waitlist in August. This person was given the option of accepting the 2-year MSW or applying again for Advanced Standing once they complete their BSW. He told me that this applicant had decided to accept the admission to the 2-year MSW.
I hope this is helpful for some people!

I haven't heard back from U of T but they may not be updating ACORN since they have mailed all the letters yesterday! Don't give up hope yet.
Renison-University College offers a BSW post graduate degree for 10 months, as long as you meet the prerequisites.

I am too scared to check ACORN today so if anyone checks today, let me know if it has been updated

Mine is still blank as well!
From what I understand, it is supposed to be blank until it says "MSW -invited". I am thinking that they did not do any updating today. Perhaps they will do another round tomorrow. I have absolutely no clue but I am still hoping that they are still updating. In past years, they did not update all at once so I am hoping for the best.
If they are sending out decisions by tomorrow, then we should know by the middle of next week

Hi everyone, long time lurker here! Today has been such a nerve wracking day, especially after seeing 2-year msw acceptances for uoft (only school I applied to) come out. I am currently at work completely unable to focus and keep refreshing acorn and there is nothing do people know if there's more than one round of admissions, and how they send out acceptances? (I.e. is it alphabetically?)

Those of you who have seen your status on ACORN change to “invited”, what letter do your last names start with? Mine is M... I’m wondering if they manually change each person who’s been accepted or if they change all at once. I am absolutely petrified right now

I am getting extremely nervous now. I logged into ACORN and it doesn't say invited yet... I wonder if all the admissions are going out today.
Does anyone have a screenshot of where it would say invited?
