  1. I figured I am going to get an MPH first and then focus on PhD. Being a non-traditional doctoral candidate proved a little tough, I guess. Thank you for asking. Hope you found what you were looking for! Wishing you best as well.
  2. Hi, I applied to the PhD in Health Promo (Dallas campus) and still waiting decision. I am also currently taking graduate level classes at UT Health. It made financial sense for me to apply to UT Health with in-state tuition. If accepted, I need to figure out how to continue to work and attend classes during the daytime. Z.
  3. From JHU - Thank you for your email. The DrPH program office typically releases decisions in early March.
  4. Makes sense, that would be the right approach. I was checking to see if anyone here already has the answer.
  5. Hi GCers, Does anyone know when can we expect decisions from JHU for the DrPH? From previous years discussions, it looks like 1st week of March. But I am thinking if there would be a delay due to the pandemic and increase number of applications in general. Z.
  6. @oboecho Thank you! This makes me feel better. More than a month to go till we find out. JHU DrPH is the only one I applied to. I did not apply UNC as it did not seem to be a good fit for me and of any interest. Can't to a full-time DrPH either due to personal commitments, like the many of us.
  7. @oboecho Is the interview for DrPH candidates at JHU part of the process? Were you invited for it by the admissions committee? I have not heard anything from JHU yet except for "Application Under Review"
  8. Hi, I am evaluating changing career into public health focused on global health and sustainability. I have had multiple good school (think JHU, GW, Berkeley) and got good advice. I wanted to reach out to this community and get other perspectives as well. I do not have a traditional public health background but do have over 20 years of experience in management/strategy consulting and recently "ventured" into sustainability working on the people health. My intent is to bridge the gap between private sector organization and public health and help organizations connect the "triple bottom line" to health of the employees, develop strategies, programs and initiatives, and develop measurement criteria to evaluate business impact. I have a bachelors in engineering, masters in management (strategy) and an MBA from top 10 school with a decent GPA. I have not taken the GRE yet and need to start preparing for it. I am focusing on part-time programs (preferably Dr PH) since cannot do any full-time ones, given my family commitments. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts around how my profile would fit in for some of the top programs and what kind of GRE score would I need to get to compensate for my lack of PH background? Thanks in advance. Zman.
