I am applying to the same program/start date and was also worried about a lack of experience. I figured I'd give it a shot anyway, worst case scenario I need to get more experience and try again. Fingers crossed for both of us! I'm on (what feels like) the millionth revision of my statement and I'm starting to think it's never going to be good enough.
Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted! I'm excited for you all.

Hey! Honestly the person I spoke to wasn’t the most informative person.. I asked her that question too and her response was “ when they look at your experience compared to someone with, for example 10 years why would they pick you?”. My response to that was because I have a competitive application. I asked her if the phone call was to just streamline the application process and she said it was. I would take what she said with a grain of salt. I don’t think they base it just on experience I think it’s a combination of grades, type of experience, volunteer and many other aspects that fall into play.
    Dont be worried

Congrats to all those who have been accepted! This is my second time applying after being waitlisted last year.. I’m wondering if they will send out more “invited” tomorrow. I find it hard to believe they’ve sent all of them today.. trying to hold onto whatever hope there is so I don’t go completely insane LOL any other people in the same boat?

Same here! I've been having a panic attack one second, then calm the next. I'm just trying to be more hopeful and repress all my anxious thoughts! Haha

I know exactly how you feel! Last year I was certain I would get in and then was waitlisted. It sucked but it also allowed me to take some time to refocus my experience and reapply  with a stronger application... (I applied to the two year program so I don’t know if ive made it in yet lol) but regardless it’s important not to beat yourself up! Remain hopeful you get off the wait list and if you don’t, well I believe everything happens for a reason maybe you will gain some incredible experience in the next year!

I am declining because I was also accepted at U of T and Toronto was my first choice as I live here and can still be employed part-time with my current place of work.

If you have just graduated from an undergraduate degree, my genuine advice to you would be to gain some working experience first before doing your Masters. I took that risk 2 years ago and honestly, I am so glad that I did. I have been working full-time in children’s mental health and feel that my passion has only multiplied since being able to actually understand and experience the work frontline.
Is there an option for you to defer your acceptance for a year? Some schools have the option for you to hold your acceptance for 1 year before starting the program.
I would be happy to talk with you more if you have any questions/ thoughts/ feelings/ concerns you want to work through with someone who has been in your place ?

Has anyone accepted their Laurier 2 year MSW acceptance? If so, was there any information provided about the deposit. I am wondering how much it is and when it needs to be paid by! I haven't accepted yet and don't have access to this info! Thanks

Is there anyone here who has been accepted to Laurier and was put on UofT's 2 year Wait list? I read on LORIS that we need to accept/decline by April 24th but I am worried about accepting and then getting admitted into UofT. I am wondering if anyone else is in this situation. UofT is my ultimate goal but I am very excited about getting into Laurier as well!

Hey Goodluck with Laurier! I know that waiting is the worst feeling ever! I don't know if I am the best person to answer this question however, from my experience (I am coming out of my BA in psych and did a rehabilitation certificate with seneca college during my undergrad and had 2 practicums in the rehab field) I would say that I got into Laurier because of those practicums. It depends what your interests are but they allowed me to talk about what I really want to do and how they allowed me find what I'm passionate about. It also helped to have a very cohesive application since most of my experience is within the rehab field I demonstrated that I have a passion for working within the field and for furthering my education. So if you want to work in the mental health/ addictions field I think that program is an amazing opportunity! Also having a variety of placements which the Humber program seems to offer, really helps in showing that you're flexible and able to work with a number of different populations in different settings. I think that getting a number of different experiences is also better than having one year at one job, this obviously depends on what kind of job you can get, but based off this job market I would definitely pick going back to school for a bit! I hope this helps

The acceptance letter is uploaded to LORIS! The acceptance letter is there instead of the application checklist (where we uploaded our documents).
