Hi all! As of about five minutes ago, I received my rejection email. It's unfortunate, but this fellowship is ridiculously competitive. So I can't be too upset. Good luck to those who are still waiting (if there are any)!

No updates on my end! The last email that I received from them says that we should hear back regarding interviews (either way) by January 16th. Not too far from now, but I'm assuming we'll likely start to hear something after the holidays. Glad to see another applicant here!

Just coming back to say that I just signed a lease at Maple Valley in DABCO. Hope everyone is having a smooth time figuring out living situations, etc.

Thanks so much! You as well. Hmm, I'm probably most nervous about the commute between NYC and Pullman in all honestly. I'm not going to be able to visit home nearly as much because of how expensive it'll be, but I'll just have to make the adjustment lol. But I'm most excited about experiencing the campus (which looks beautiful) and just having the opportunity to dig into my research more. How about you?

I'll be starting my Ph.D. in American Studies and Culture at WSU this fall. So nice to meet you! I'm currently based in NY and I've never been to the west coast, so I'm excited for the change

Hi all! I know that there's an older thread about Pullman here, but I wanted to try to start a new one for Fall 2022 incoming students. Anyone start looking into housing yet? I'm pretty sure I be using DABCO.

Finally received my Rutgers rejections as well (through the portal). Shortest rejection I've ever received lol. Good luck to everyone still waiting on decisions!

I emailed Rutgers yesterday night. I emailed the graduate coordinator called Ed . He replied with the email below:
"Thanks for your interest in our program. We had over 100 applications and could only admit 3 new students so we could not admit many highly qualified candidates. Unfortunately, you were not one of the finalists. You should be receiving an official letter from the Grad School in the near future. All the best with your endeavors".

Has anyone heard anything from Rutgers since @lagom_lagom's acceptance? They're the last program that I have to hear back from, and would like to move forward with my choice if I'm going to get a rejection ? (I only got into one school, so would like to make it official soon.)

Hi all! I know we haven't used this thread much this application season, but just popping in to say that I just received my rejection from Northwestern's African American Studies program. Hope you're all have a successful season!

Also received a Yale rejection. Oh well lol. That was the last American Studies program I was waiting on, so I'll be a silent observer from now on. Wishing the rest of you the best as you hear back

Nope not yet! Assuming some people will start hearing back to schedule interviews closer to the middle/end of the month. Trying to keep my nerves down in the meantime ?

I'm trying to remind myself that there were just a lot of applicants this year. They could only choose 77 out of more than 2400 of us that applied, so I guess it was a long shot regardless. Wishing you the best on your academic journey 🙂
