  1. I just heard back from UNLV for the Ed.S program today regarding acceptance!
  2. I posted on another thread (I'm applying to school psychology programs but wanted more insight about the "alternate" position) and I was told that the alternate position is really just another word for being waitlisted. I agreed to become an alternate for my top program but I also do not want to wait it out because I know this cycle has been extremely competitive and I do want to give others a chance to attend the other programs I have been accepted into if those programs happen to be their top choices.
  3. Has anyone heard back from New Mexico State University for the Ed.S program with an acceptance/rejection letter?
  4. I just heard back from a school and I got an email that said: "we are pleased to offer you alternate (waitlist) status with regard to admission for 2021. Please notify us (yes or no) if you accept or decline our offer of alternate status as soon as possible, but no later than April 1" "you will be recommended for admission should space become available" "please make tentative plans to be available for program orientation" I am so confused as to what this means. Is this just a very nice way of telling me I'm waitlisted? Does this mean that if I said yes to this school, I am declaring my intent to attend even though I may never even get in? Or if they were to tell me I was accepted, from there I would still need to declare my intent to attend? (P.S. I had also interviewed with this school last week)
  5. I just got an email telling me that I have been recommended as an alternate too. I also interviewed. The email said that I should provide a yes or no answer by April 1st and still make plans to begin classes in August.. This is very confusing to me because it seems like I am committing to a program that I might not even accept me..
  6. I just heard back from UNLV last night about interviews for next week.
  7. I am actually still waiting to hear back from UNLV for the Ed.S program!
  8. Not yet - I will let you know if/when I do!
  9. I did receive an email about interviews late December for the Ed.S program. It looks like the interviews will be in about 2 weeks.
  10. One of my letters of recommendation submitted a day late so I'm not quite sure if they even accepted my application. It's real bummer but I applied to many other schools so I'm going to try and stay hopeful about those - sorry probably not helpful. I wish you the best of luck though, their program and faculty sound so amazing!!
  11. The application process has been a bit rough when writing my statements and addressing critical issues because I've always had difficulty writing about my thoughts professionally... I'm getting there though! I am applying to: University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, UW Madison, University of Washington, San Diego State University, University of Arizona, University of Central Florida, George Mason University, New Mexico State University, and UNLV.
  12. Hi everyone, I'm looking to become a LCSW is the future. I'm graduating a quarter early (this March) and plan on taking a gap year to gain some experience in the mental health field as a milieu therapist or mental health specialist. I would like to pursue a clinical social work program with an emphasis on mental health so that I can work in direct clinical practice. I'm interested in the University of Washington in Seattle, UIC, University of Denver, University of Maryland, San Diego State University, and some other Cal State schools have sparked my interest. I'm honestly not looking to spend a lot of money at a prestigious school, but if there are scholarships or research grants available I'm all for it. I'm wondering if there are any other schools anyone would recommend, any personal experience with these schools, or any info anyone has on my chances of getting in. GPA: 3.7 Major: BS Psychology Minor: Bioethics volunteering experience: Crisis Text Line counselor, hospital volunteer in inpatient psychiatry unit extracurriculars: Panhellenic sorority, Psychology department peer mentor, have been a part of 2 research labs.
  13. I was initially interested in a Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree and see that many schools offer dual degrees with an MSW and Masters of Public Health (MPH). I am interested in being a LCSW post-graduate school but I do also have a general interest in public health and research since I am pursuing a B.S. in psychology. I understand the two fields are very different on a spectrum but do compliment each other when looking at the grand scheme of things. I also heard that being knowledgeable in both areas help to bridge gaps between the two fields. However, I want to know what careers, if any, are out there for this dual major and if this dual degree would be worth it. I know if I just did an MSW most grad programs do not require the GRE but MPH programs do, so I wanna start studying for it if the dual degree interests me.
