Seems like it! I just received an invite for the Cornell interview - Feb 6-8th. (I'm the one posted in the results page). DM me if ya want POI initials, and good luck to ya all! No idea if they have sent out all or just some of them.

Anyone else just kind of...politely waiting/politely twiddling thumbs  ...for any kind of response from some schools?  Hehe.

When your phone rings and you see that the caller ID says "Ithaca, NY" so your heart begins to race because you think Cornell is calling you, but it's really just a telemarketer ?. I know it's early January, but can someone please just take me out of my misery?

I honestly thought we would start getting blasts of emails (good or bad) starting this week but it's been so quiet...Except for clinical folks. Does anyone else think things are running super slow this cycle? What is happening!

Darn it! I was over eager. I thought I remember getting my email this week last year. Umm. Sure hope I got in, because otherwise this past semester has been very confusing. ?
And you'll definitely get one ?

I just got an email from my top choice POI of all the programs I applied to about having an informal phone interview and I swear I almost passed out when I saw her name pop up in my inbox! I know it's only an informal interview, but I'm shocked I even got this far lol.

If the person who posted on the results page about getting a preliminary skype interview for Cornell's Human Development program sees this message, would you mind DM'ing me your POI? Thank you and congratulations!

Hey Ya'll! I'm going to Cornell for a M.A. in the Human Development program in the fall! I live in Ithaca now/have been here since fall. Hit me up with questions on the area if ya got them.
    Things I've learned so far:
Collegetown is where the undergrads live and supposedly has a party vibe at night - but it's lovely during the day. A couple good spots to get food/coffee (and a good ramen place as well as a good hot pot place). Don't live in Varna, or really anywhere outside of Ithaca if you want it to be walkable. I currently live in Varna, which is quaint, but very quiet and not terribly walkable. Buses aren't as frequent as they are in other places (1 every hour or so, sometimes more during rush hours).  I hear very nice things about Fall Creek neighborhoods, supposedly a lot of the faculty and some of the grad students live there and love it. Shopping/Groceries: There's an Aldi, Wegman's, Wal-Mart, Target, BJ's, etc. so it's easy to get groceries. There's a Farmer's market every saturday near the Aldi (but if you park at Stewart park, you can walk over and avoid the traffic). Apple picking is a real thing up here, clutch way to get apples and other fresh produce in the fall. It can be hard to find any pepper spicier than a serrano. There's a reuse center in the Triphammer mall that has ~$3 clothes and a lot of other stuff. We stocked our kitchen cabinets on the cheap there.  Restaurants: Hard to find really good mexican food. Ciao is great budget friendly italian Folks love College Town Bagels (CTB) and Ithaca Bakery (same owner). Good place for coffee, baked goods, and in some locations, beer. Purity Ice Cream is great for ice cream and for brunch. Mix is also a good brunch place. Otherwise, folks here are pretty dang friendly. Hit me up with any questions!

You mail in your personal statement and are in such a rush you forget to omit the part that says in big capital letters "INSERT STUFF ABOUT X COLLEGE HERE!"

This totally happened to me.....luckily the first person to get it was an assistant and a student and they emailed and called me telling me to reply back with my ACTUAL SOP. So I did and I actually got my acceptance from them. I never thought I would be so grateful for hard copy applications being required!

I'm going to hastily generalize that whatever involvement you thought you had in theatre was trivial, laughable, and at best superficial.

And in contrast if you'd like to go check out the books I've written from your school's library I can PM you the ISBN's.

With that age group I think you will have more luck with Dev Psych programs than with Ed programs--unless you were interested in early childhood policy. I can PM you a name or two.

I agree with @t_ruth and @ZeChocMoose: finding academics whose research you're interested in and working backwards to the universities is a good way to get started! You might try reading abstracts in the Journal of Early Intervention, Topics in Early Childhood Special Education, and Early Childhood Education Journal. If you find something you like and want to read more, researchers will sometimes make their articles available on ResearchGate or provide full copies upon request. If you're interested in a SPED focus, you might try looking at publications coming out of Vanderbilt, Kansas, UT Austin, UO, and UGA. These are just a few institutions who have faculty doing interesting work... Or interesting to me, at least!
I also agree with @t_ruth that you might be unlikely to find many folks researching infants in ECE. Most ECE programs bill themselves as covering ages 0-6 or 0-8, but in my experience, these programs tend to focus on ages 2-6.
I attended Harvard about a decade ago, and at that time, HGSE wasn't known for ECE. I see they've introduced an early childhood initiative since then, so it may be different now, but the "big name" schools aren't necessarily where you'll find the strongest ECE programs!
