Hi, longtime lurker here...I, too, am in the radio silence boat.
I emailed the GSC to ask if there is a wait list/how one might be notified, and I received this response: "Thank you for writing. Yes, there is a waitlist for the Ph.D program. Such applicants are notified via email." Nice, and to the point, but doesn't clarify the silence situation...I suppose I should have been more direct. Taking this as an implied rejection in the meantime ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey everyone-- anyone willing to claim a CUNY acceptance an enlighten us as to whether it was from a POI or a standard accept email? Wondering if I'm out of the game yet or not, and see that last year CUNY notified over a couple of days via POIs.

Anybody have any idea about the way acceptances work at NYU? For ex: Do they only make phone calls? Or is it possible to get an acceptance w/o a call? Also, anyone know about how many students get accepted? I couldn't find that info anywhere.

I'd have to disagree. I negotiated a higher offer from a fully-funded program (in relation to an offer from another) and it was treated as a totally normal part of the procedure. I was also told by the DGS of the second program to email him if any programs offered me more money. Obviously you don't want to be too aggressive or pushy, but I think it's difficult to come across that way when a lot of programs expect a sort of miniature "bidding war" for students. I'd also say that there are clear upper-limits to funding; while a lot of programs will ask you to forward your highest offer to them, not many will match a stipend like Stanford's.

TLDR: ASK FOR MORE MONEY

Congratulations! I saw one of your earlier posts and we had the same POIs and general interests, so that's cool! And yes, I do intend to visit. I'm still kind of shocked and not really thinking about the logistics of it all right now though. Not sure if they will pay for our visit and whatnot.

First acceptance at SUNY Buffalo as an English fellow with full funding and tuition remission. So relieved and excited and hyperventilating.
