  1. Hey! I don't have any advice for waitlisted candidates per se, but I will tell you that I was accepted to UChicago SSA with a Dean's Leadership Scholarship of $15k -- however, I am accepting a different offer seeing as there's no way I can swing the costs of UChicago. Fwiw, my stats are white cis female, 3.4 undergrad GPA, humanities and arts degrees from undergrad at a public state school, been working in youth development non-profits for the past 5 years. I hope declining my offer opens up a slot for waitlisters! Best of luck!
  2. I haven't yet received my official documentation, but an email from the admissions coordinator has informed me that I didn't receive *any* additional need-based aid. Which is definitely a bummer and a concern. I am working to see if I can get my 2018 tax return considered as well as/instead of my 2017 one because I made far less money (about $15k less) this past year than I did the year before due to a switch from the corporate sector to a non-profit job. Blaaaah Honestly not sure if I'll be able to swing the finances for this degree or not. I am not particularly interested in taking out huge amounts of loans, especially when I am fairly sure that I'm going to stick to clinical/micro practice. I agree that the pedigree would be helpful for policy work, but not sure if it's the right choice for me. Best of luck all! Here's to hoping we can shake the money trees!!
  3. I applied 11/29/18 and received my notification today. Accepted with a $15k scholarship. I am crossing my fingers that there may be more money coming after the FAFSA is reviewed!
4. Chicago is excellent without a car -- lots of buses, trains and car-sharing options. I moved here with a car and eventually got rid of it, because the transit system is so high quality.
