calmly waiting

My app portal for VCU was reset today (photo/film), without an update on my status, just welcoming me as someone who is re-applying to their grad school.
I had been checking occasionally for an update (an assumed rejection). I'm assuming it will show up next month in the mail, which will be fun to open. This is def an extra amount of discouragement on top of everything. Probably good thing to get used to that but, eesh.

Got accepted into MICA MA program! Still waiting it out for the MFA program but will be taking it up even if I don't get accepted!
Sent rejects out to UIC and NCSU.

My final results for MFA in Fine Arts:
Colorado State: Rejected
Columbus School of Art and Design: Accepted with TA ($3,000 stipend) and $10,000 scholarship.
MassArt: Accepted with TA ($2,000 stipend) and $2,000 Dean's scholarship.
Maine College of Art: Accepted with GA ($1,500 stipend) and $5,000 scholarship.
Portland State: Accepted with GA ($1,800 stipend), $10,000 Laurel's scholarship and full tuition remission.
SVA: Requested Interview, but I declined presuming I wouldn't get much funding. 
University at Buffalo: Accepted with TA ($14,704 stipend), full tuition remission and the Mark Diamond Research Grant designated for my thesis exhibition.
University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee: Rejected
VCU: Rejected
I think I'm set on Buffalo! I don't think I could ever come close to a better offer than that and I also connect very well with the painting faculty in their department. I'm excited and nervous for the big move! But I feel confident that Buffalo is the right decision for me. Upstate New York will be way different than Oklahoma, but here goes nothing! 
Hope everyone is starting to relax after all the stress and setting sights on a plan! I'd love to hear where everyone is thinking of going! ?

Rejected UT Austin Fellowship offer on Monday! If anyone's on the waitlist for painting, there should be something opening up.  I'm headed to UCLA!!!!

My final list for 2yr Graphic Design MFA: 
Tyler - Accepted with TA and generous stipend for 1st year 
MICA - accepted 35% scholarship
SCAD - accepted with small scholarship
SVA - accepted no funding
Rutgers - asked to interview but turned it down because I already had some others I wanted more
Yale - rejected
RISD- rejected
Tulane - rejected 
SAIC - rejected
VCU - ghosted, I never heard anything even after emailing to ask. 
I was really struggling between choosing MICA or Tyler. I’m going to commit to MICA though. Already turned down the rest. 
Anyone else going to MICA? 

If I don't get funding or get off the waitlist at MICA, I might as well drop this year. The tuition fees at Pratt along with the living expenses is way beyond my league.

I received an acceptance email from VCU photo+film on March 9th. I had to decline because of logistics + my first choice was offering funding. 

Okay y'all, I am absolutely confused/flabbergasted.
I just got an interview invitation from SVA after hearing nothing from them since I turned in my application in January???
They have already sent out waitlists, rejections and acceptances in my department (fine arts/painting) several weeks ago.
This is weird and unexpected.

Received UCLA Graduate Opportunity Fellowship today! 

Rejected from Cranbrook so that's it! All I got is Pratt and with the amount of aid I'll get I will prospectively get I can't attend Pratt either unless they give me more aid so this year was sadly a bust, but I am waiting on some residencies to reply so I have that. Much power to those still waiting and those that got in. I'll see you guys next year if they don't give me more aid for Pratt.

Got accepted to Pratt with 38k in aid, but cost of attendance is like 110k so I dunno if I'm going to be able to make it to New York this year.?
 

Lol, waitlisted at RISD two years in a row

I was rejected by BU’s Graphic Design program. The last one I’m waiting for is RISD which I’m sure is a no since I’ve heard nothing.
I wonder what they didn’t like about my application. Even my safety school said no. I guess I’ll continue adding to my resume, redo my portfolio, and try again next year. I wish I could see portfolios of accepted students so I have a sense of what style they’re looking for.

I got accepted to VCU for Photo + Film on Monday. 
 
Also got got an interview request for San Fran State for Cinema (was told I’m a finalist, but before they can issue an acceptance letter, an interview is required). 
 
Still waiting on Syracuse University for Art Video. 
 
Buttttt I visited RISD today and might just accept their offer!!!!!

Ok, this stuff is stressful: A school I had given up on (mostly) followed me on Insta. I spent about an hour thinking “ooh, maybe I’m still a candidate,” they then unfollowed. Um. My account is not private, so they could have checked me out without following...a bit confusing. And totes stressful.

Just heard back from CCA via email- accepted with $31k per year in scholarships

I'm in the same situation. Depending on where you applied, I think it's pretty late. I would send a nice email to the department contact asking for an update.
Until I get an official rejection, I hold a small hope for an emailing telling me I've been wait listed. Unfortunately I think I was passed over. So, I'll just get busy and next year I'll adjust my approach. Or go to school to become an accountant or programmer.

I was just notified today via email that there was an update to my RISD grad application portal and it directed me to a letter that I've been waitlisted for Printmaking. Hope this info is helpful!
Note: I was not interviewed

One thing I've taken away from this process is that I would genuinely love to see what happens inside these selection committees. Additionally, I would love to be a part of a selection committee. I should maybe put that on my statement of purpose next year.

I read this on the reddit /r/gradadmissions sub and it really helped my perspective - from the chair of an admissions committee
