Thank you so so so much for this information. Though I got selected weeks ago, only after seeing this from you, I wrote this email to the GEM rep at one of my preferred schools:
    Dear Dr. Rep's Name,
I hope this finds you doing well. I’d like to inform you that I have been selected as a GEM Fellow by an employer. It’s so exciting! Since I haven’t heard from SCHOOL NAME yet about my application decision, I wanted to know if you have any advice on how to proceed with this new development.      I’m looking forward to hearing from you!   Regards, MY NAME   Literally 13 minutes after I sent my email, I get this reply from the GEM Rep:   Congratulations, MY NAME. This is excellent news! Let me get back to you with an update from our end.    Exactly 31 minutes after I sent a similar email to another GEM Rep at another one of my preferred schools, I got this reply back:  MY NAME, congratulations!  This is wonderful news for you.  I just dropped a note to critical MY MAJOR NAME faculty.  I will track the status of your application and keep in touch with you. In the meantime, just let me know what I can do to assist you! Once again my sincere congratulations to you!!
WOW my excitement barometer just went so high. I'm so grateful for this forum and the way we're assisting each other.
If you've been selected by an employer, I can't accentuate enough how important it is that you do what user ray92 recommended to do.

So for schools statuses, I've noticed the following in my case. Listed in order of occurrence:
Did Not Apply, Pending Verification, Applied, Accepted, Willing to Admit as GEM Fellow.
So currently for one of my schools it says Willing to Admit as GEM Fellow. This school started out with Did Not Apply last year, then changed to Pending Verification, then changed to Applied, then changed to Accepted and finally now it says Willing to Admit as GEM Fellow. And yes, I've already received an official admission letter from them. Hoping this helps someone!

I GOT INTO AN IVY LEAGUE SCHOOL & they’re willing to sponsor me!!!!!!!!!!!
so I have a few questions about the package I got. So I was awarded a fellowship from the university, does that get compounded with gem? Does that mean I don’t have to TA? And also what’s like the average range for stipend awards (I think it said I got 36k/yr)

I'm sorry to hear that. But it looks like You've also been admitted to other excellent universities. I have no doubt that you will do superbly well at any one of those schools! I'm rooting for you!!!

Hey everyone! Update on my situation: I was finally selected! It took a few weeks but I think this is because my company was looking at a lot of potential GEM Fellows. I got the impression that maybe they were expecting me to send them a follow-up saying that I was interested in the position, so I would give that as advice for anyone who has been contacted by their employer but not yet selected.
I was also admitted to my first choice school (yay! :D) so I guess that means I'm a fellow once I accept the offer?
Good luck again everyone! Hope it works out for all of us in the end.

I did NOT send the email through GEM (I don't recommend sending through GEM). I used my personal email. In the past I've gotten their emails by just doing a google search of their names plus university name. But luckily for these schools, I had received solicitation emails last year encouraging me to apply to their programs because I had applied to GEM. I had responded to those emails last year and established some rapport with the GEM Reps who sent those emails. So for this situation, I just used the same email chain so that they had context of who I was and I just changed the subject.

@sirTintin @Moods  I also sent them a similar email where I updated them on having been selected by (employer), and I got similar results. I would recommend to try to find who you have had correspondence with as most of you probably got fee waivers to apply to those schools. Some of them weren’t the designated GEM rep for that school, and here’s the email I sent them:

    Dear (person),

I wanted to update my (department) application, as I have been recently selected as a GEM fellow in collaboration with (employer). If you require additional information about this fellowship, I can gladly provide you that.
    Thank you,
I’m so happy to see everyone succeed, Lets all get this bread!

@sirTintin Congrats on those amazing replies!
I actually did a combination of the two last night. Most of them I emailed directly since I already had their emails already after asking for the fee waivers. However, there were three that I used to contact through the GEM website. One of those people have already contacted me and three other people that I contacted directly have replied back as well. So, I think both ways is fine, but I think if you already have their email, you might as well email them directly.
Also, as mentioned above by these two wonderfully helpful people, I highly suggest contacting the GEM Reps about getting an internship. Two of them are telling the departments for me and the other two are telling me to update the department about the internship. They all seem very excited for me, which not only makes me feel good but also gives me some hope that I might still have a chance of getting in!
I am really thankful for all the people who have helped me during this entire process, especially you all on this specific forum! Thank you! Good luck everyone, and to those waiting to hear back from employers, I hope you hear something soon!

Hey everyone I’m super excited to say I’ve been selected as a fellow. I didn’t get any correspondence or anything I just happened to check the gem portal and it said I was selected. I got a follow up email the next day. For those of you still waiting I was on “matched” till now, so don’t loose hope!

Excellent recap of the discussion covered during the call. There's another one tomorrow at 2pm (EST) if you didn't have a chance to attend today. I counted about 25 or so students who dialed in.

It was mostly a Q&A call, but at the beginning they mentioned the things you need to do in order to confirm yourself as a GEM Full Fellow, such as send in your transcript, post the professional photo, get a letter from your employer and give it to GEM, and accept a university. All of that stuff you can find in the email they send a few weeks ago. Also, a couple answers they gave that I found useful.
    1. If the schools that you applied to haven't verified that you are an applicant by Feb. 1st, contact GEM and let them know. They will try to get you verified, but there are no guarantees. Also, a week or so before this due date, you can contact the GEM Rep for that specific school to ask about your application's verification.
    2. GEM is stackable with other fellowships. You have to ask the other fellowships you may receive if they can be combined with the GEM Fellowship.
    3. The only way you can become a full fellow is that you have both a employer sponsor and a university sponsor. If you don't have an employer, then you still have a chance of getting the other two fellowships. However, if you don't have a university sponsor, you can't get any fellowship and have to give up your internship.
    4. For the first year, PhD students get a $16,000 stipdend from GEM, which will be given directly to the university and will be paid out to the student in two terms. The university gives you the money the form they want, such as cash, check, or direct deposit. The university can give you more money than that stipend amount your first year, but it all depends on the university and your agreement with them. Years 2-5, you will receive a stipend from the university only. If your a full fellow,  tuition and fees will be paid for those fives years.
    5. Make sure that you stay in good standing with your university. For PhD students, the minimum GPA you need in order to keep the GEM Fellowship is 3.0, however the minimum GPA you need to stay in good standing with your university may be higher. If you aren't in good standing with the university, you can't keep the fellowship.
    I hope this helps!

I was matched in late November. About two days later, I was held. And then a week later, I was back to matched. (At this point, I'm going crazy--high blood pressure).
Then on December 11th, I was held again. On January 8th, I received an email from an employer asking about my availability for an interview. Two days later, I interviewed with a manager from that company. The same day after the interview, on January 10th, my status changed to selected (I'm guessing the interview went really well for them to confirm that fast). On that same day, I saw a message at the top of my profile that read: "Congratulations! One or more universities have indicated that they have accepted you and are willing to sponsor you. We need you to let us know which university you intend to matriculate through. Click here to let us know where you're going to go."
I then confirmed my employer and my status changed to accepted. The employer company set up multiple other interviews with other managers from different department at that company with me. I guess it is for me to select a team that best aligns with my interest. I'm currently going through those interviews. I've already completed four of them.
As of today, I've been confirmed by 5 schools I applied to and accepted with funding at one of the 5.
I really hope all of you get to hear some excellent news too! Best of luck to all GEM fam!!!
I used to check the site like every two hours during the day.

Thank you!! It is with a national lab, which is my dream. Who would have thought?!!? And that's great that you still have your name in papers. And surprisingly, I didn't do an interview. I just happened to check GEM today and there it was that I have a sponsor and I accepted it.
