I just turned down UT Austin's offer. Stings a lot, actually -- I absolutely adore my POI there. But this should cause some movement on the waitlist, so good luck for those waiting to hear.

My hands were shaking the whole time, I was so nervous! I even had to rehearse a couple of times with my best friend. I really love the prof and definitely want to work with her in the future so I wanted to make sure my sincerity about staying in contact came through. Time to go take a bath and not think about anything for a week ?

Just got an email that I got the tuition waiver + the stipend at Villanova! Will be confirming my acceptance of the offer tonight!

Hi all, I’m dusting off my GradCafe account too to chime in as a current UT-Austin student. I’m a 5th year candidate, a medievalist who works on Chaucer and his reception history, saints’ lives, and critical theory (especially psychoanalysis). I’m also a poet who completed an MFA before pursuing the PhD. I’d be happy to correspond if anyone has program-specific questions, ones about Austin, and/or being queer in the Austin area. Cheers! 

Just got a call from Dr. Sae Saue offering me admission to SMU

Thank you everyone!  To think 24 hours ago I was walking the campus feeling absolutely certain I'd flunked the interviews ?

Same here with both NYU and UC Davis. I had already assumed rejections, but with NYU there are all three types of notices on the board (though only one rejection) so I'm not entirely sure what to think. Someone on the board said there might be an unofficial waitlist but I'm not getting my hopes up for that, of course.

I haven't heard from NYU English and I assume it's a rejection because I see that accepted people were called mid-February. I just wish they would respond already.

Totally unrelated but the hotel SMU put interviewees up at is also being used for some kind of last round regional audition for Project Runway (overhead in hotel tavern yesterday). now as I’m waiting in the lobby for my shuttle to the airport I’m surrounded by over the top dressed creative types and the most obvious production assistant I’ve ever seen running around between them. I’ve been watching old seasons of PR the last few weeks trying to distract myself from the stress of waiting for results and now I’m trying to figure out if this is a good sign or a really, really bad one ?

Had to visit UT early due to a conflict during the official weekend. 
Sitting in the airport waiting for my flight home, but I wanted to tell y’all that: 
While i was visiting, there was a grad student conference called Fugitive Futures: Graduate Students of Color Un-settling the University and SAIDIYA HARTMAN was the keynote. I only got to peep in for a panel or so, but for all my Poco and “Ethnic” Lit people, just wanted to tell you that that happened (just bc i had no idea prior and thought it was pretty cool)!

In at Yale. My one admit of the season. I'm speechless.

I emailed Berkeley last week asking 1) if it would be appropriate that anyone who hasn't received an acceptance should consider themselves waitlisted and/or rejected, and 2) if there was a more clear timeline of when applicants should expect to receive official notification. The response I got today stated that yes, they "have begun to make [their] initial offers of admission" and that final notifications will go out in April. 
Make of that what you will!

If you weren't good enough to be there you wouldn't be there. Or do you think that the people on the committees of elite English departments lack reading comprehension skills? You didn't get in because they believed you were a fully finished scholar, if you were, you wouldn't need to be in a PhD program. You got in because they believed you had the potential to become a fully finished scholar.
