    claiming a Yale acceptance!
    I thought its' a rejection because it was a generic email to check the portal.
    Assuming a Harvard rejection I'm finally done!!! Thanks to everyone on this forum who made January and February less stressful. Best of luck to y'all.

    Rejected from UPenn.
    <begin rant>
    Had worked really hard on the app and it seemed like the best fit among all the schools I had applied to given my area interests and methods bent. So kind of disappointed but fortunately I have an acceptance from a "top 10" school in my sub-field, of which I honestly knew nothing about when I applied to; this whole process is so arbitrary I can't even. Still, each new rejection manages to make me feel more like a fraud who barely won by fluke; I guess I will have to work that much harder to prove myself otherwise. Good luck to those who are still waiting for a lifeline or those waiting to hear back from schools of their choice; hope you, unlike me, are better at not pegging your self worth to the marginal whims of tired, tenure-troubled admission committees.

    Thank you so much. I am very happy with the results, as well even though I had many rejections, I got into a good school which will improve my career and hopefully land me to a tenure-track position

    My first post here. I had been following what people were saying, and attempting to shore up my deflated morale. Applied to Princeton, Harvard, Brown, UPenn, Johns Hopkins SAIS, Michigan Ann Arbor, UVA and McGill in CP. Had written to POIs at these places and they had written back saying they thought the proposal was a good one. GRE was ok V:168,Q:163, AW: 4.5, one joint published paper, but no conference work. I did have 5 years of work experience relevant to the field I was proposing my topic in; some POIs even highlighted this point as a strong part of my application.
    Two months of intense tension later, I have rejects from Princeton, Brown, Ann Arbor, UVA and possibly McGill. Any attempt to email said POIs is returned by a ‘sorry we had too many applicants’ rather than how to improve the application. I am expecting rejections from the last three as well, Harvard was a bit of a stretch in any case.
    Thanks a lot to people like Tedmonkey, for putting out how to try and get back at this application process. I’m at a total loss right now, after having put in almost 8 months of concerted effort building every part of the application. I don’t know, at this point, what I can do to make it better...
    In any case, if there are people like me here, who got wiped out this application cycle, and who are trying to get back on the application cycle, maybe we could create a separate thread and support each other over the next year, which I have all reason to believe, will be brutal.

    Got an email from a POI at Penn. I was told decisions would be released "very soon."

    I'd definitely not ignore emails. It's unprofessional. Obviously, it happens and most people probably wouldn't notice, but sending a short reply within roughly 24 hours is what's expected. The emails usually contain a congratulations and a message welcoming you to the department. You can reply with your thanks to their message, your positive feelings about being accepted, and your interest in learning more about the program through communications from the department in the coming weeks, even if you don't have specific questions at the moment.

    It’s a no brainer for me - I’d go for UWM.

    This may be useful for all of you who are waiting for their results: https://www.reddit.com/r/gradadmissions/comments/7srxxy/decision_timelines_for_particular_universities/
    The graphs include timelines for when specific schools have released their results between 2013 and 2017, as well as GRE and GPA distributions. It doesn't have all the schools, probably due to smaller amounts of data points, but still interesting and anxiety-relieving.

    All the interview reports were by international students - does anyone know if Pitt interviews domestic students as well?
