Bodys got a reaction from Brittany0Kay in MFA 2019 Freak Out Forum
Waiting on one last school, and on one waitlist. Does anyone have any advice on reaching out for a status check? Is there a polite way to ask without being annoying? Or should I hold off and stay patient?

Waitlisted at UConn for painting! I had completely given up hope for this school, so this was a wonderful surprise. My fingers are crossed extremely tightly!

I feel this so hard. I need to know if I'm moving for grad school or staying in my city, because either way my lease is up and I need to look for new apartments ASAP! It sucks having to put life on hold for a while and not being able to make plans for even 6 months in the future

lol yes, bad idea. We're still in the early stages of hearing back, a lot of schools release decisions in mid-March. If it's April and you haven't heard anything, then I say go for it.

I would say it's probably a departmental thing. I think people said SAIC Painting got calls, someone in another department (fashion??) got emails. I believe acs0000 applied for new media.
My big question is - why not use the pony express or owl? Just imagine a dusty acceptance letter with weather worn edges showing up at your door in the claws of an owl. Great publicity.

I just got an interview request for SAIC! I won't lie, I cried. I had completely given up on Grad school this round.
Editing to say that its for the Art and Tech department!

To those that are asking about UCSB, a photographer I know is applying to all three UC schools and has interviews with two of them this week. Not sure of any other details, but I hope it offers some clarity!
Also, I just got a call from the Drawing/Painting/Printmaking dept head at University of Minnesota — I was accepted!!

Not sure about the other two, but still waiting to hear back from UW-Madison. I would assume we'll hear something in the next week or so. UMN deadline was 1/1 and they're expecting notifications to go out early Feb.

I applied to Northwestern and UW-Madison and haven't heard anything yet! UT Austin was early too (same deadline as Madison) and still waiting to hear from them as well

I mean, yes, I am stressed and obviously thinking a lot about admissions (hence me checking this thread everyday...), but I have a lot of peace of mind knowing that whatever happens with admissions, I will still have my art.
Gatekeepers to the art industry have faded considerably in the last several years. Additionally, so far in my life I have constantly created, no matter what less-than-desirable circumstances my life has been in. A yes or a no from a program won't really affect that.
I say all that, but obviously I really want to work toward an MFA.
