Any suggestion on finding a place to live in ABQ? Are there any real estate agents that deal with renters in the city, or rental finders? I’ve got to find a place near campus, that will fit and allow me, my husband, our dog, and two cats. All while selling our home in Arkansas. I’ve been looking on Zillow, etc., but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed.
  2. Is anyone else beyond pissed after hearing the news today about the admissions scandal? As if the higher ed deck isn’t stacked against the middle class and working poor enough! I can’t imagine the opportunities I would have had had I not had to work ft through school, let alone if I had rich parents. ?
  3. I sent an email to my POIs. They were all very nice, but I didn't learn anything new.
  4. Has anyone heard from Ohio State or UT? I know someone got a very early acceptance from OSU in January, but I haven’t seen anyone else post. I’ve seen nothing form UT. I’m application status is listed as “pending” or “in review.” I’m trying to decide if that is tantamount to a rejection as this point, or if no news is still good news.
  5. I thought the same thing. I also didn't expect any notifications this week, or most of next because CAA is happening right now.
  6. Has anyone heard anything from UT?
  7. Similar thing here. I was accepted to one of my programs, but I haven't heard a peep from any of my other schools. I went through all of this in 2010 when I started my MA. I didn't hear anything until April. Of course then everything was done by mail. I would rush home hoping to see a big envelope in my mail box rather than a small one (acceptance vs rejection).
  8. No kidding! The words “pending,” and “in review” are infiltrating my dreams.
  9. Does anyone know anything about when Ohio State sends out notifications? I noticed that in the past they have sent letters out in January, February, and March. This makes me think that each POI sends things out on their own timeline. I noticed that someone received a very early acceptance (January 9th). I would love to know what area that early acceptance came from.
  10. It seems like art history is always a little behind other fields. Some specialties are worse than others. I didn't hear about my master's until April, and deadlines were in mid December. Of course that was 2010, and everything was still done by mail. I almost wish it was still done by mail, it would keep me from checking my email 100000 times a day.
  11. I just looked at last year's interview notifications for Emory. Last year they were sent on the last Wednesday of January, so a week after most of the other invitations were sent. This makes since for my area (I'm a pre-Columbianist) because we, at least those of us who could afford the trip (not me), are at the Meso Meeting in Austin.
  12. You're so right about that! I check this think before I teach, in between classes, during my office hours, on the walk home from work, at home, on the couch, in bed... all of the time.
  13. Has anyone applied to Emory? I noticed that they started to send out Visit Emory invitations out to people in the sciences. I’m curious to know if they have send any out for the humanities.
