brighteyes got a reaction from dqz1213dqz in how will three withdrawals impact my application
I have a total of 26 from my community college years. I got into a PhD program. That's just my personal story, but I thought it would be helpful just to tell you that it is possible.

So happy to report that I received a generous funding package and will officially be heading to University of Nebraska-Lincoln!

Oh my gosh. Top 20-40 is NOT low ranked.

adcomms will see you as someone who thinks that a "low-ranked" university is in the top 40 and that's how they'll deny you. your pretentious attitude aside, any experience is good experience.

brighteyes got a reaction from Katie B in Moving expenses?
I definitely intend to get rid of most of my furniture. I think the only big pieces I'm bringing with me are my bed and a bookcase that my dad made me. Everything else is replaceable.
I am a first-generation college student, so undergrad was difficult to navigate. Grad school is completely unheard of-- I had no idea that something like a moving stipend even existed. I will definitely ask about. Thank you all so much for your input! This is very helpful.

@brighteyesThis, I would inquire as to whether they have a moving stipend.

If you're concerned about your next apartment's security deposit (obviously a major expense on top of the actual moving costs), you can look at subleases. That will give you more time to save up for the deposit for your next lease.

brighteyes reacted to Clinapp2017 in Moving expenses?
You can always ask. A person I know from limited means is getting $2000 to move (not even that far) to an ivy for grad school. It will be reimbursed later, so not upfront money, but better than nothing.

Is a moving bonus not part of your package? You should ask if they have funds for this.

So sorry! But at least you really like your second choice, too. You’re going to grad school! Congratulations!

I feel this so, so much. I'm in grad school purgatory over here with no news from my top choice, but also no rejection. Just reject me already so I can accept my 2nd choice offer.

I have no information for you but I relate to this so much. Why won't my program just reject me already??? Then I can at least move on with my life

please please please please, if you are holding multiple offers please let go of a couple. i still have hope of getting in this cycle from my waitlist. i feel like i'm in a hold and I can't make any plans yet because i don't have an offer yet.
I know that you earned the acceptances, and it's your right but please please consider letting go of some?
i also dont mean this in a rude way. i have a huge smile on my face and puppy dog eyes atm

Just got rejected from my top choice (Northeastern). I got the news at my job, in-between counseling appointments. I had to excuse myself to go ugly cry in the bathroom.
This sucks.
