Nisaba reacted to phyanth in Funding Packages
So, I've seen threads in other groups where people share their funding packages for MA/PhD as a useful resource for people who want to apply for schools, but aren't sure what the funding may be like. Or you know, just for sheer curiosity too. Anyways, the google sheet is editable by anyone, so feel free to add your school. Cheers!

@HealthyAnthro Well there was a recent study in which the majority of anthropology jobs go to graduates from Chicago, Berkelely, Michigan or Harvard. But, it also depends on your specific topic and which programs would provide you with the most enriching resources. I also had an interview with Chicago that seemed rather tame in comparison to a previous interview I had. How did yours go? Did they mention when the final decisions would be sent out?

@Umairrasheed Yes, they do in fact prepare a long list first, then, after interviewing candidates they prepare a short list. I counted 4 Chicago interviews, but not everyone who is contacted posts on this website, unfortunately. So take the posts with a grain of salt. Lastly, I think you are correct, most programs take 4-6 students, depending on the program, funding available etc.

I still think it's a mistake and it will be revoked or something...but I was accepted to UNC! I...I can't believe it. I thought there was no way. Went there for undergrad and will be thrilled to be back on campus. Go Heels!

@pmcol Thank you! I was nervous and made a few mistakes, so I'm not too sure if I will in fact be accepted. I prepared as best as I could by knowing how to further elaborate on my research questions, and conceptual points. I also prepared and answer for why I was interested in Duke, my specific research topic and summarized my previous research projects concisely.
    Good luck on your applications!!

    Hello all,
I had an interview with Duke and I thought I might share some of the questions/topics.
First, know your topic very well. I was asked historical, practical and conceptual questions. Ex. what conceptual tools will you draw on to carry out your research? Where would you begin your fieldwork?
Then, there were the easier questions:
How did I come to study what I am proposing to study? Why Duke? Some background information ( I gave both academic background and personal background as it coincided with research topic).
    I hope this helps.
