Hey, I was one of the Minnesota admits (stats PhD). I’m guessing they notified me earlier because they told me they wanted to nominate me for a university diversity fellowship that has a deadline next week and requires an additional essay.
The visit day isn’t until March 6, so they could definitely be doing several rounds of admission offers.

Minnesota typically releases in early to mid February. The acceptance may be a Masters student here who got into the PhD program or may be a troll. I'd be shocked if it was a standard applicant. 

Most interviews ask about why you're interested in their department, why you want to go to grad school, research interests, career goals, etc.  I think Illinois only interviews international applicants, so I think they are probably interested in assessing your English.

Not yet - but in the past, most unis only start sending out offers in late January or February.

There isn't a profile/results thread yet, so I thought I'd gauge interest. I'm applying in the fall, and it would be super helpful to see some of the profiles from applicants this last cycle. Are you guys interested in contributing? If there's enough interest I don't mind starting the thread.
