I do feel a bit under the weather, guys : ( 
I am usually "let it be" kinda gal but all my conferences (6) were cancelled and it was my first year as a doctoral student to start presenting my research, I am was very proud and excited: / Then all classes moved online, I haven't seen my friends in a while, I really miss them. I don't have a family around to call. But I feel very grateful I have a home and health insurance in these times. Please, send good vibes and prayers you like. 
I really hope they can relieve our stress and just let us know. It has been a lot already.

This is my second time applying for the pre-doctoral fellowship. 
My school suspended face-to-face classes and all classes are moving online now. It has not been an easy transition, especially when you are waiting for the results of this fellowship too.

Haha I don't think there's any way to speculate about how long the alternate list is, or how many people will decline. So I'm mostly just treating it as a wash and happy to be on the honorable mention list. Trying to stay hopeful for the NSF, which is apparently being announced soon...

Just found out I received the Ford Predoc Fellowship! 1st time applicant but I unsuccessfully applied to NSF twice so i totally understand the feeling. Congrats to all other awardees/alternates/HMs!!

To people who are alternates (congrats!): We think NSF is going to announce tomorrow based on the maintenance schedule for the website, so that will probably get some people to turn down Ford in the next couple weeks just due to the $ difference. Not sure how many actually do turn it down, but I'd imagine that the turnover is greater in hard sciences than social sciences/humanities just given the dearth of social sciences/humanities fellowships out there.

I can't help but think that someone out there is tinkering with the link just to get a good laugh watching us react with panic to each minor change. I hope not, but academia is a bit of a sadistic game! I hope this doesn't mean we have to wait another week. I need to know something, either way, so i can just move on with my life.  I have a pint of ice cream on deck for solace or celebration. Works well both ways!

I personally wouldn't do it. If they haven't released it publicly, they're not going to share it in a random email. All it would do is give the person assigned to field emails extra work.
