Taorluath34 got a reaction from Fiat in Fall 2022 Religion PhD
Hey people waiting on Harvard CSR. I reached out to my POI over the weekend and heard back today. They said that the GSAS will release their list of admitted students back to the committee this Friday and that they will get the decisions out immediately. Hopefully this helps those of us that have been thinking "oh maybe today!"

If you mean Boston University... I have heard about 3 acceptances so far and they all came out at different times, via phone call from potential advisors. I didn't apply to BU so that's all I know.

Yep. Thought it was kind of brutal too: "your application has not been successful." Yike.

They did not mention anything to me about the interview process so I really don't know. I know a lot of schools send interview invites into February, though. Also, some students get accepted without an interview at all.

Hi everyone, I just posted a result for Stanford Religious Studies but I did it wrong so I wanted to clarify as to not freak anyone out. I'm having some issues with my account right now (smh), so when I went to post my results, I wasn't actually logged in so I can't go back and edit. But for clarity, I received my interview notification the week of Dec 20 (not specifying for privacy). A previous commenter asked about whether or not more interviews were mentioned, to which I don't remember them discussing how many people were actually being interviewed. I'm actually not even sure of interviews are a formal component of the process, or if it's on a case by case basis. It does seem that interviews are subfield specific and at the discretion of the field's faculty, so I don't know if it's necessary to panic if you haven't heard back. So, don't read the tea leaves too much!
Hope this was helpful ! xo

Hey, everyone. I am claiming both the Stanford and Yale Religious Studies interviews on the results page. I completed Stanford's at the end of December and I received an email from Yale today for an interview next week. My subfield is American Religions/ American Religious History

Hey, a post of interview in the results. Princeton university religon. No ideas what subfield.
Two Emory religion interviews at the end of 2021 Dec. No ideas what subfield.
Search ‘religion.’ Not ‘religious studies.’
I guess Princeton likely has interviews in American religious history…

Yep going nuts even though I know it's still early. Heard from POI at top choice this past week that he has been lobbying for me all break and that everyone he's heard responses from has been enthusiastic about my application. Said that he and several faculty are excited about me coming and mentioned "if (when!) you are offered admission." And another prof there said via email this week that he is excited about working with me. Which of course all sounds great. But I applied to two different programs there (Duke PhD and ThD) and POI didn't say which one to expect to hear from, though I let him know my preference if adcomm asked him to put me in one or the other. So I'm freaking out about landing in my preferred one, and also can't stop thinking about the off chance that he says all this and I get my hopes up and then for some reason don't get an offer. I feel like I have 98% certainty but it's that 2% that will nag me for the next however long until they release decisions. I'm hoping at the earliest week after next maybe? At the longest maybe a month.
And @theologizing77congrats on Vanderbilt interview! I applied there but haven't heard anything so I'm guessing I've struck out on that one.

Anyone going nuts yet?
Hope everyone was able to get their applications in okay (I've submitted all of mine but still have one officially due on the 15th).

@Taorluath34 Yup I'm going nuts myself. It's too early to go nuts, but can't help it. Though I heard back from one school (Vanderbilt) and they want to interview me. But it is my understanding that not all schools do interviews.

Alrighty. I submitted all my applications on Thanksgiving because I wanted to "submit in a spirit of gratitude." Ha. Ha.
Looking forward to obsessing on this thread in a couple of months. Wishing the best to everyone.
Programs: Harvard, Boston U, UVA, Stanford, Princeton, U of U

I hope everyone is doing well! I have committed to YDS and the ISM. I just made a FB group called Yale Divinity School Admitted Students 2020 if anything wants to connect and share info.

Just accepted my offer to YDS, MAR- History of Christianity with full tuition. So excited! I do, however, feel for people still feeling the sting from rejections. That was me last year- 9 rejections and no acceptances. It hurts and it is hard and it was a really long year. This is just to say that I'm very grateful for the offer from YDS.

'Twas me, and thank you, but I continue to hold my breath. I applied for Islamic Studies. Do not worry (too much) if you have not yet been contacted. From what I have gathered from their website, initially each subfield works independently. Wishing you all the best.

Yes. In particular there are schools that have a strict policy of no interviewing *stares at Yale* so faculty use social media to get an idea of who you are. Some faculty violate this but that's a slightly different issue.
Academia.edu is a route that many check to see if applicants use. On a personal level, I strongly suggest people not use Academia as it's a front to steal your intellectual property and monetize it.
I know for a fact that my advisor does extensive searches on everyone they might take on as a student. They also print it all out and keep a folder and for your annual review they show it to you.
You can take that as you will but speaking to my own experience - my advisor is amazing and requires bimonthly meetings with all of their students over a meal. They go above and beyond to cultivate a personal relationship with you, check in on life stuff, make sure you're not studying too much, etc.

Texas rejections are in. Obviously quite the disappointing application cycle, but you know what? I am in Disneyland. So for the next little bit, I am going to celebrate that I applied, got rejected, and still want to apply again next go-around. Happy weekend everyone!
