Wondering if anyone here has accepted an offer for Communication & Culture at York/Ryerson?

You are so right! But the temptation of sending out that email is too much. I tell myself what’s the worst that could happen if I send out this email to the director? But another part tells me he might throw your app in the trash if I send him!
Haha, he definitely won't throw it in the trash! If its really eating away at you, it won't hurt to send a polite quick inquiry. But I think he'll probably just tell you the admissions process is still underway

I am trying to hold myself from not sending an email to the director of the program regarding my application status. Shall I send him an email asking about the rolling, early action and early decision process and when will I hear back from them regarding my application?
If you agree or disagree, please tell me why
I recommend waiting until perhaps the end of February. I think it's still quite early in the process, taking into consideration delays due to the pandemic, so emailing now probably won't yield any useful new information, and might only result in extra stress. I know its incredibly difficult, but try to distract yourself for at least a few days, and try to not visit this forum as much if its causing you stress! I know that grad cafe is terrible for my mental health personally.

Hi Guys! I'm new applicant to the Comm field (switching over from STS), and I've been lurking this thread for a bit and thought I'd join in on the suffering. I hope everyone is surviving, and keeping in mind that as much as it can seem like grad admissions are a matter of life and death, this is just a small part of the amazing lives you will all lead.

Has anyone heard from Harvard History of Science by chance?

Hi! Just created an account so I could post. It's been so helpful to read this thread so I feel like I should start contributing! I'm the person who was admitted yesterday. My subfield is more social history of medicine/public health focusing on the Progressive Era, so it sounds a bit different from yours and @spacealienphilosophy. Don't have any more information than that unfortunately, but I'm wishing you both the best!
Thank you so much for replying!! And congrats
-
Haha, me too (and having a heart attack over every new email notification)
Good luck to everyone! If the person who was admitted sees this, would you mind sharing what your sub field is?
-
Nope, haven't heard anything at all.
Seems that we have similar research interests then
Wow that's quite a large cohort size! Do you know anything about how many applicants they tend to get? I was under the impression that there only about 40 of us HOS people, so that would make the admission rate quite high.

@VolozoIt's not my top choice but I'd still like to know sooner than later. I heard that it's a bit of a transdisciplinary program which I am not too keen on. Did you already have someone particular als POI in mind? Looking at last years results there are not too many admits,do you have any info how many new students they admit each year?
Haha it's actually my top choice for that reason! That, plus the fact that they're strong in my area (20th C). In regards to a POI, I spoke briefly to Matthew Hersch. How about you?
I'm afraid I have no idea about their admission numbers! It's quite a large department, so I imagine they must admit slightly more students than, say, Princeton HOS

Hey, thanks for the reply! I've been admitted and had just accepted the offer, and was just wondering if there was anyone else here who would be joining me in the cohort
