I got into UT Austin off their waitlist! Heard from them this morning (IR). I am DELIGHTED! And I will be accepting the offer  
I have also contacted Rice to ask them to take my name off their waitlist, so hopefully it might help someone there

Claiming an acceptance at MIT! Comparative politics. Email came about 3.5 hr ago. 

I just got a call from the program director for Government & Social Policy at Harvard letting me know I've been accepted!
Really can't believe it, I had completely given up hope for this cycle.

Claiming a Stanford rejection. Also got a Duke rejection earlier. Pretty sure I've been rejected at Maryland and Vanderbilt too so the only school left is MIT. Regardless of what happens, I'm still happy that I've been accepted to Emory with funding. Any acceptance is a success, esp this year. Best of luck y'all!

Tomorrow marks the beginning of yet another week that will be filled with either stress, excitement, pain or happiness. 
 
But regardless of what we feel, it’s good to know that this stressful process is slowly reaching towards its end (at least for US schools).

This cycle isn't over for me yet, but I just want to say how thankful I am for this little corner of gradcafe. You have been so positive and supportive, providing advice to others on how to strengthen applications, gain more theoretical/methods knowledge, and helping some nurse their rejection(s). I know gradcafe can sometimes be a bitter and anxiety-inducing space, but you've made it a wonderful part of my application journey this year -- thank you! ☺️

Claiming a Northwestern acceptance!!! Political theory. I was sooo skeptical due to the 1% acceptance rate this year. Elated is an understatement 

On the subject of waiting for results, my Duke interview was over 3 weeks ago by now and they only released decisions on Monday (and I got no update so I assume a rejection). I am so bad with refreshing my email every 5 minutes lol

I used to live in the East Bay near Berkeley. This is accurate. One of the more affordable cities in the East Bay is Vallejo, just north of Berkeley. East of Vallejo, a lot of Berkeley grad students live in Fairfield and Davis, and my brother actually had grad TA's several times who were UC Davis students. I'm not sure how it works but I guess UC Davis students can accept TAships at Cal during the summer terms and they sometimes do and just commute every day on the Amtrak commuter. Davis is a lot closer than Sacramento and would at least put you in another college town. Also, if you're having trouble finding housing, consider International House. It's a bit more affordable and flexible housing than the grad student housing and it's on the Berkeley campus, next to the football stadium.
