CU Boulder's loss. So...you are off to UMass-Dartmouth, congrats again! I am wishing all the luck in the world for you, don't let them change your essence, though. Let it grow grow grow ? I am signing off now, sending good vibes to all. ?

Hello all! I had been waitlisted from Washington University's Sam Fox School in St. Louis. I just received an acceptance letter from them this morning, with a 50% scholarship.
I had applied to U C Irvine, Tulane New Orleans, and Boise State (family there), and was rejected by those 3. I had a professor drag his feet for 1 month in getting his letter of recommendation out, and at least 1 rejection told me that because my documentation was incomplete, they could not consider my application. (So, I don't know how much that played a role in the other rejections).
My head is spinning because I had pretty much already resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn't be accepted this round, and I would start early this fall with more funds to apply to at least 10 places. I am struggling financially out here in California, applying for better employment, and would have to scramble now to figure out how to get out there and get a new place, etc.
Has anyone else been accepted by Sam Fox, and are you going? From my research, it seems to be a fantastic school and I may really regret not accepting; however, I really want to teach when I graduate and there is no guarantee of an assistantship. I really wanted a program that offered a full scholarship, with a graduate assistantship offered with acceptance.
So confused. I would love to hear some thoughts! Thank you.

for anyone who is waitlisted for Columbia Painting, are you all planning on staying on the waitlist? Also, for anyone who was accepted to Columbia for Painting, are you planning on accepting your offer? Thank you!

hey yall, for anyone on the waitlists for any of the other schools I was accepted/waitlisted at in my signature, I've made my official decision to go to CMU. super excited, and I hope someone gets in off the waitlist to the school they want to go because of my declines!

I emailed Columbia admissions and this is what they said:
We are a bit delayed in sending out final decisions, but we anticipate sending them out by the end of this week. You will be notified via email once a decision is available. Please don't hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions in the meantime.   Best,

Has anyone heard from University of Colorado? I was told it would take 2 weeks and now we're on 6.  I've checked in twice with the professors I interviewed with but no response. Probably going to reach out to the general grad admissions e-mail but really wish I didn't have to keep pestering. Let me know thanks!

Has anyone else been accepted to MCAD? They offered by 18,000 + 6,000 GA but that will only cover 60% tuition, not to mention living expenses. I hear some of their students live in their studios so I guess that could be an option haha. I feel like their program is great but I'm not sure about taking out another 30,000$ or so in loans over the course of the program. Thoughts?
    also-
I'm in fibers, and probably will just apply again to some other schools for the next round. Any good leads on fully funded fiber programs? I'm one of 8 children in my lower/middle class family and already have 26,000$ in debt from undergrad

My final results for MFA in Fine Arts:
    Colorado State: Rejected
Columbus School of Art and Design: Accepted with TA ($3,000 stipend) and $10,000 scholarship.
MassArt: Accepted with TA ($2,000 stipend) and $2,000 Dean's scholarship.
Maine College of Art: Accepted with GA ($1,500 stipend) and $5,000 scholarship.
Portland State: Accepted with GA ($1,800 stipend), $10,000 Laurel's scholarship and full tuition remission.
SVA: Requested Interview, but I declined presuming I wouldn't get much funding.
University at Buffalo: Accepted with TA ($14,704 stipend), full tuition remission and the Mark Diamond Research Grant designated for my thesis exhibition.
University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee: Rejected
    VCU: Rejected
I think I'm set on Buffalo! I don't think I could ever come close to a better offer than that and I also connect very well with the painting faculty in their department. I'm excited and nervous for the big move! But I feel confident that Buffalo is the right decision for me. Upstate New York will be way different than Oklahoma, but here goes nothing!
Hope everyone is starting to relax after all the stress and setting sights on a plan! I'd love to hear where everyone is thinking of going! ?

at this point have now heard from everyone---i've pretty much narrowed my choices down to a local state school program (sfsu) or an international program (emily carr in vancouver) because i just am not going to go into debt over this. after funding, both are about the same price (6 and 8k a year) but one would basically upend my life to move. i'm also a freelancer full time so i'm concerned about a fuller course load vs. this local school where i wouldn't have to move and is a 3 year program vs 2, so more easy to juggle with my work. however, emily carr is a better school in many regards, and more intellectually stimulating, more creative, and would allow me to teach/TA in my working field of illustration, which is really the endgame reason i applied to grad school (to teach illo, in particular, ideally). sfsu would let me teach as well, but a more general class.
i'm really conflicted. i feel like emily carr is the better choice but i also hadn't fully anticipated moving. i'm based in a good situation currently. it'd been an abstract concept till now. and of course both of these schools have early april deadlines to inform. lmao. anyone have any advice?

I will likely apply for some and see what I get. I don't have good credit and no co-signer. But I'm also not trying to go into over $100k of student loan debt (I'm at $30k currently with undergrad, all gov student loans), really trying to avoid any private loans. But I also don't see myself going through another round of applications. If I continue working in my current career I literally don't have time to make new work, certainly not "good" work, and I had to stop showing my work because I could never coordinate drop offs/pick ups etc with my crazy schedule. So I will certainly apply for loans and weigh out the pros and cons.

    Sorry to hear
I feel your pain. Out of 10 applications I got 8 rejections, 1 vague, pseudo-waitlist, and 1 acceptance and scholarship but still not enough financial aid to do it. I've contacted them explaining that I need more financial assistance and am visiting the school this weekend during an "Admitted Students' Day", so crossing my fingers now more than ever.
Best of luck to everyone! This process is a killer.

I have decided to enroll in RISD's three-year graphic design program. (For those of you concerned about cost, ASK FOR MORE MONEY! I was given 20k more by RISD basically with the snap of the fingers.)
I spend the last 1.5 hours sending rejections to CalArts, MICA, Parsons, Pratt, RCA and SVA. If you've been waitlisted at those, I hope you get offered a spot now!

I wrote a poem for you all after a year of applications to grants/ open calls/ 2 interviews at VCU and RISD that resulted in a rejection and waitlisted status.     —————————————————————     We regretfully encourage you to apply to our online print institution with a cv, slideroom sacrifice, numbered explanations of your sense of criticality, and a brief statement explaining the origins of your rigor in contemporary practice.    Due to the volume of applicants we will be unable to tell you wether you were selected or not. A full faculty interview panel will be planned to gender reveal your destiny via Skype if the panel selection includes your final application.    Please reach in if you have questions.  Thank you.   Departmental chair

welp, rejected from Tulane 5 weeks after interviewing. Got an email with a link to the admissions portal, which seems to be the kiss of death in these things.
Not sure if grad school will work out this year, but currently not keen on repeating this process again.

I've turned down SVA and Pratt so far. SVA is a good school, with a good reputation, and amazing faculty. But it is not the right fit for me — too entrepreneurial, not experimental enough. Pratt has a very good reputation, but my understanding is that the graduate program in graphic design is relatively new. I'm not very familliar with the faculty and few align with my research interests. I can't speak to BU or ACCD. The latter has a good reputation and at least historically had important people (Lustig) running the program. Currently, a CalArts graduate is running the ACCD graphic design program. I can talk to any of these more, if you think it will be helpful.
Right now, I am deciding between RISD and CalArts, both of which I think are the best fit for my interests and are both highly regarded schools, and Parsons, which gave me 75% scholarship. Basically, do I take on a huge debt load to do exactly what I want, or do I take on barely any debt for a program that is not what I want? Anyone have good advice?

I got $12,000 a year in merit scholarship. I'm happy to receive the scholarship, but cost of living with the remaining cost of the program would definitely result in me taking out more loans than I feel comfortable with
