  1. When applying to graduate school, I considered both of these options. Here are the main differences that I found: ITP is in the Tisch School of the Arts, while IDM is in the Tandon school. Therefore ITP focuses more on the intersection of art and technology in an experimental playground. Meanwhile IDM students will have a research focus that they pursue. ITP is graded pass/fail and focuses more on the creation of projects for art shows, while IDM is graded in a more typical graduate program. ITP has a much larger cohort of students and is 60 credits, while IDM is 30 credits. In ITP you would take several foundation courses in the first semester such as in physical computing, computational media, video, animation, and sound. In IDM you would enroll in creative coding, ideation and prototyping, media law, and theories and cultural impact of media and technology. Hope this helps!
  2. I believe other Tisch programs are moving to Jay Street as well, such as the Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music and the Center for Game Design. Thanks for your post ThriftyCyborg. I'm not a proficient coder, but I'm joining ITP. I hope to practice more before classes start.
  3. Hey I have a quick question. For those who received a scholarship, what was your profile like?
  4. NYU ITP. I like the experimental nature of the program more. Good luck to everyone!
  5. Anybody receive funding information? I just received a 50% tuition scholarship at NYU ITP. I'm also waiting to hear back about funding from Michigan. The creative atmosphere of NYU ITP may suit me more though.
  6. I applied for human-computer interaction for Fall 2019. Good luck to everyone! I hope we receive our decisions today.
  7. How well does the program prepare you to find work afterwards? Do students find internships easily? It sounds like you would not recommend the program.
  8. Hey I'm also in the same boat. I'm a graduating senior who received a scholarship from Pratt, but I'm waiting to hear about funding from NYU ITP. I've been struggling with the decision, but I will most likely to attend Pratt. I'm waiting for all of my decisions to compare them. I believe Pratt has a more structured program for UX, but I enjoyed visiting one of the art shows at ITP.
