Kind of unfortunate, this remind me of capital punishment in Japan. I mean it's not as bad, but never the less!
Amnesty also reports allegations of abuse of suspects during these interrogations. There are reports of physical abuse, sleep deprivation and denial of food, water and use of a toilet.[32] One of its biggest criticisms is that inmates usually remain for years (and sometimes decades) on death row without ever actually being informed of the date of their execution prior to the date itself, so inmates suffer due to the uncertainty of not knowing whether or not any given day will be their last. According to Amnesty International, the intense and prolonged stress means many inmates on death row have poor mental health, suffering from the so-called death row phenomenon. The failure to give advanced notice of executions has been stated by the United Nations Human Rights Committee to be incompatible with articles 2, 7 and 10 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.[9]

I haven't heard anything from UofT yet. Heck, I didn't even get so much as an interview tbh. Honestly bro, I'd pester the admissions office by telling them you have other offers and ask them to expedite your application. You shouldn't have to give up other offers for them, because their decision may not always be favorable (I sincerely hope that's not the case though!).
I didn't receive their e-newsletter. AFAIK UWaterloo is fairly transparent about subscriptions, there's an unsubscribe button at the bottom.

I think the universities rank each candidates by X factors and generate a queue, ranked highest to lowest. Every time, the admission office receives decline of an offer. They just pop 1 candidate off the queue. Knowing one's position in the queue would be super helpful!!

I'm guessing the "Complete under review" means a reject by default, unless they need more candidates to fill the program? I'm having the same status, it haven't changed or anything for about a week.
