That I am not 100% sure about. I am trying to stay positive and make myself excited, but I tried and failed to "get through" undergrad at a place I didn't love, and ended up destroying my mental health. I had to take a year and a half off from school before I felt ready try again. I don't want to be a self-fulfilling prophecy and am trying to be happy about my decision, but that will always be in the back of my mind.
I don't really like the campus or surrounding area. It feels a bit too cramped. And, as I grew up in Milwaukee, I was hoping to explore somewhere else for a little while. There are things I like about Milwaukee, but I'm ready for a change. I could just move after I graduate, but I feel like finding a CF in a completely new state could be challenging, especially when I could be competing with local applicants. I liked that Northwestern had connections to a lot of unique externship settings, and they have a lot of interesting research being conducted. But, it's too late for Northwestern. I'm happy about not having to pay off $100k in loans, but I still wish I could have gotten in at a school I would be happier at.
Is it possible to do some of your clinical externships in a different area? For example, I was accepted to UNH ( University of New Hampshire) and they have some clinical placements in the Boston/Massachusetts area.

I got accepted to BSU a few weeks ago. Hesitant because of the accreditation status, but it for sure is my cheapest option. Running out of time and needing to make a decision! Is anyone else in a similar predicament?
I wouldnt worry too much about the accreditation status! I have heard that you will still be eligible to take the praxis and get your C's even if something did happen with the accreditation.

I got accepted as well and it is the only school I have gotten accepted to so far. I have been waitlisted at every other school.....my top choice is UNH and they told me that I would hear if I have been accepted off the waitlist after April 15th. However, I need to let Worcester State know if I will be attending by April 15th. I think I may have to commit to Worcester State and then back out if I get accepted to UNH ?
well I think the worcester deposit was only 200, so if you do get into UNH after putting the deposit, the worst that happens is only losing a little! But i feel ya , I was waitlisted at 4 schools.. and I havent heard at all from UNH so im not sure thats a good sign for me there, lol

That's great! I did as well!
Do you think you might decide to go there? I probably will, since it's by far my least expensive option.
I think im like 75 percent sure I would go to Worcester. I also got into Emerson but its literally more than double the cost... and I really don't want to be in a ton of debt.. since also i think were about to enter a crazy recession lol. But I am hoping to hear back to see if I got any grants or anything

oo thanks for the heads up!

Yes i got the letter in the mail as well! kinda unclear. it says welcome to worcester state and gave an ID number, but didnt really mention being admitted/ SLP lol but im guessing that means im in if it says welcome to WSU?

I am still waiting to hear from 5 schools, so youre def not alone! I havent heard from UNH, UMASS, worcester State, or Bridgewater State, or URI

I know some schools send out information in rounds. I did already hear back from Northeastern that I was waitlisted, but it cant hurt to call or email!
-
I applied to 10, and have been accepted at 1, and wait listed 4 so far. If possible, I would probably only apply to 5, just because i have already spent thousands of dollars applying between CSDCAS fees, schools personal app fees, sending GRE to every school, and sending two transcripts to every school

Has anyone heard from Worcester or Bridgewater ?

I was accepted at Emerson! Did anyone hear about funding tho? I am excited to be accepted but nervous about the cost, and didnt hear anything about any scholarships or aide

I interviewed at BU this past weekend. I flew in from South Bend, IN. Boston is beautiful and I love the big city. What scares me about going to BU is the commute/travel of getting around in Boston and the cost of living. Does anybody live in Boston that can expand on this?
I really liked the program, however, I felt that they introduced their clinic and talked to us like we didn't know how clinicals work. My impression is that many students have never done clinical in undergrad and I have already had a patient, written POC's every week, gotten feedback from a supervisor watching my videos, and written SOAP notes for my patient. While it is great to be ahead and go in knowing what I'm doing, it made me worry that I might be bored. I don't know, just got me thinking about if this is the best program for me.
Other than that, the research opportunities are wonderful. I have done research in neuroscience and have published work, so the amount of research I can be involved in excites me!
I grew up in the suburbs of Boston and I currently live in Boston. As far as cost of living, it is pretty expensive. I live with 3 roommates in Brighton and we each pay around 830 per person, not with utilities. I think those prices are pretty average for popular cities. There is affordable housing, you just have to have roommates, and be willing to take the train for 30 mins to get downtown. As far as getting around, there is the subway( The T) and BU is right on the green line. There are also a lot of bus lines. It seems like they try and accommodate if you want a clinical placement accessible by public transport, but I guess its not a guarantee. With any big city, with a big traffic problem, its just important to give yourself time to get places.

yeah i asked current students from all programs, and all of the people I asked said they all heard about 2 weeks after the interview last year
-
Did you guys send thank you emails? I didn't get contact info during the interview but I found some of the professors emails online
-
I also interviewed for all 3, I think they are all good choices. I didn't love Emerson's setting per say, but I think they all have strong programs, and good clinical placement opportunities.

Just got offered an interview at BU today!

I havent heard from Northeastern yet either

Well I know a lot of people around Boston do sub-lets and especially around the schools there are a lot of people who do a semester abroad and need people to fill their apartment specifically for a semester. Def takes some coordinating but its pretty common around here to get a subletter or be a subletter
