  1. For others who weren't sure, your extranet username seems to be the email address you used in the application. I was awarded, with all categories above 80th percentile. They don't seem to give numerical ranks this time. I was committee 177, which had 50 applicants.

  2. I did email to again to ask if it really would be tonight, and not tomorrow, but I haven't received a reply. On one hand, I don't believe government employees would work late (it is 6:35pm in Ottawa now) to do this, but on the other hand, this person said it would be today after 1pm Ottawa time. Seems like this is the worst they've ever handled it.

Last year they sent an email with instructions on how to access the account. I think they sent personalized links to each applicant. Did you receive an email from them about the Extranet?
Last year they sent three emails. One was a notification about the Extranet, the second contained the username and the third contained the password. That was on January 27/28, and the results were announced on January 29.
If we have not received these emails by now, I think there is a low chance the results will be announced today. ?

I haven't received any emails about Extranet, but NSERC's automatic reply to the scholarships email address does say results and letters containing rankings will be released today.

  4. The email from NSERC says results will be on their Extranet. How do I make an account? Can someone please post a link to this Extranet? Last year they seem to have at least told people what it was and how to get there.

  5. I haven't heard anything about Extranet from them. I first heard of it period reading the thread for last year.

Their choice to announce after so many people will have been required to respond to offers is indeed very puzzling. For anyone who will receive a later-round offer, it's almost irrelevant.

  6. Committee 117 here. 51/110, which doesn’t look so good as they have never given out more than 47. I don’t know how valuable it is to calculate percentages if they only have funding for a fixed number of applications except to fantasize about what it would have been like in a year with fewer applicants.

Is there any way to find out your rank on the waitlist? Also if someone declines from a different committee does that open up a spot for any waitlisted person or only those in that comittee?

I think our ranking in the waitlist will be mailed to us sometime iver the next two or three weeks. The letters going out now seem to only say that we are waitlisted.

Inthibk it must be only within committees because there’s nothing in nserc’s description of the competition that involves comparisons betweeen committees.

  8. People at UofT have received decisions from NSERC, but unlike some other universities the SGS people aren’t saying anything about wait lists or rejections. Anyone at UofT who hasn’t gotten an offer email from NSERC is just waiting (like me) for the letter in post. Based on the number of successful applicants I know about in my department already I’m not at all hopeful there’s room for one more.

  9. At least two people in my department have received acceptances. I haven’t been expecting good news since Friday, but I think it’s looking quite bad now.

It is disrespectful that they don’t bother sending notifications to everyone, though, if this is on purpose. There just aren’t that many applicants.

  10. I’m at UofT. I haven’t heard anything from NSERC and my department secretary emailed today asking me if I had heard anything. SGS graduate awards officer didn’t know anything, said it appears to them NSERC is still in the process of sending out results.
