I just heard back from UChicago (Cancer Biology), only one interview option.
How are you scheduling 9 interviews? Have you just been lucky and they are all on different weekends?

I'm not applying this year but it appears like the JHU's application system was down. I saw this on Twitter. Hope that is helpful and good luck!
Thank you! I also just got an email back from someone in their admissions department that it is fixed.

Thank you! I contacted admissions and they got back to me that there was a glitch in their software, but it is now fixed.

The BCMB deadline was Dec 1
Yes, I am aware of the Dec 1st deadline. Today is Dec 1, and it is not yet 11:59PM . That is my confusion.

I just went to submit my application to JHU BCMB program and was told the program was no longer accepting applications. The home page of the application states "If you are applying to multiple programs with different deadlines, each program’s application will stay open until the program deadline. The application will close at 11:59 pm EDT on the date of the program deadline."
Am I misunderstanding this? Is the happening to anyone else?

2 semesters undergrad experience in plant biology resulting in 0 publications but 1 local poster presentation
3 years M.S. research (full time, >50hrs/week) in molecular bio lab resulting in 2 national conference poster presentations, 1 first author paper that has been accepted, 1 co-first author paper that is currently in review, 1 mid author paper currently in review, and hoping that 1-2 mid authorships might be submitted in the next month or two in high impact journals

Deans list for only one semester in undergrad
small grants from undergrad and grad institutions
Pertinent Activities or Jobs: (Such as tutor, TA, SPS officer etc...)
T.A. for general biology labs for 3 years during M.S.
Any Miscellaneous Accomplishments that Might Help:
expecting one very strong letter from my current P.I. and two mediocre letters from current professors that I have only had classes with
Special Bonus Points:
Hoping to be on a paper with a PI that has published seminal papers in the field my MS research is in
Applying to Where:

Univ of Pittsburgh- IBGP
UC Davis- BMCD

I am expecting some rejections, but I am wondering if I might be aiming too high because unfortunately my undergrad performance is not very strong, so any input is helpful! I am also wondering whether I should be contacting P.I.s whose labs I would like to do rotations in or whether this is frowned upon in umbrella programs, as it might look like I am contacting them to increase my chances of getting into a program. Thanks!

I'm glad it all worked out for you! I am waiting to hear from two of my top programs and I am worried about having to reschedule them but being busy the other weekend they offer.
