Not the guy you asked but I didn't apply to SIPA or SAIS either.

SIPA has a reputation for attracting students who want the NYC life. I'd only heard about this, but then I met a few SIPA students, and that feeling got confirmed. Plus, they are stingy with funding as well.

I got pretty close to applying to SAIS, but since I was applying to Fletcher and Harris, it seemed like overkill to add another school that was in the same tier. Their application process was somewhat annoying as well, so I let them be.

What do you mean by "the NYC life?" Of course it's located in NYC, just wondering if if that was meant to connote something that deterred you. Thanks!

I'm in! No mention of funding other than the sentence, "In a few weeks you will receive specific information on the cost of attendance and possible sources of aid." Did everyone's say this?

Lol my early notification letter said that. Still haven't gotten anything.

thanks! I guess at least we know the admission team is still open? what do you make of it?

also correct me if I'm wrong but I heard that it is quite usual for admission teams to work during spring break, which is really sad to hear

Sounds like it amounts to business as usual.

While we're desperately digging for scraps of information - did you receive the email or notice the change to your portal at 7:45 PM?

EDIT: Thanks for indulging us frantic balls of stress :)

Lol I got an email saying my decision was ready and to check the portal, but I wasn't checking the portal at the time and suspect it may have been up for a bit before I got the email (that's been my experience elsewhere from similarly furiously updating portals during business hours). Wasn't expecting it at night and had just poured myself a whiskey and was firing up Star Wars. You know, that whole thing about a watched pot..

That is a good data point to know. All the other schools that use the same application system (Yale, Johns Hopkins SAIS, etc.) that I've encountered tend to hide the checklist before releasing. I guess hiding the checklist is not a requirement.

Yup, very possible they disappear once they send out all decisions, though. May just be how they treat the portal for the early notification round.

Yes, absolutely. The sign that decisions are about to be released is usually when the checklist disappears. In my experience with other schools, the email gets sent within a couple hours after the portal is updated. The fastest way to know is to check the portal (or here because people will definitely say something).

I was accepted in the early round and my checklist is still present, FWIW (though it may disappear once the remainder of notifications are sent).

Did you understand if it will arrive today?

I got an email this AM saying that we should be hearing very soon on funding detail (I got in on the early notification round), which should coincide with the rest of the decisions. I take that as meaning this afternoon.

I received an email from the SFS Admissions Director on Tuesday saying that they are recommending to Georgetown's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences that I be offered a place on the waitlist. She said Georgetown's Graduate School will release an official offer on March 23 with instructions on how to respond to a waitlist offer.

I am also waiting on an official acceptance letter as well.

Are you both referring to the SFS security studies program or the MSFS program?
