I think this is exactly the issue though. Your dreams haven't been denied. You still get to pursue your chosen academic career, even if it's not at your top choice of department. Getting into any PhD program, especially a funded one, is a massive privilege.
Some of us only get one chance to apply, and getting shut out means our dreams are actually denied.

Turns out that starting the Acceptance thread when you don't know whether you'll get any acceptances isn't such a good idea! I'm 0/12 right now with only a few waitlists. It's not over until it's over, but it doesn't look good for me!

Hang in there! The waiting SUCKS, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see quite a bit of waitlist movement in the next month.

In at Wisconsin-Madison.  First decision I've received this cycle so still plenty to wait on before a final choice, but I can say that it's a programme I like a lot.

Hey guys! I just found the forum (have been using the Results page for a while) -- I can claim the PSU rejection and the BC acceptance. If the person who was wondering about the BC email is still wondering, it was a prompt to check the portal, not a personalized email. Nice to meet y'all! :)
