  1. Advice?

I'm still waiting to hear back from UCSC. On the PhD admissions page for Environmental Studies program it says about your admissions status "Under no circumstances will UCSC give out this information over the phone." Is it appropriate though to reach out about a timeline for hearing back? I am worried that if for some reason my status wasn't updated on accident that I'll miss the April 15th deadline for responding.

I'm dying inside. Haven't heard anything back from my top school and at this point I'm losing hope. Why can't I think of anything else?

I feel you. I haven't heard from my top program either. I've been trying to get back into other things I love and try to feel passionate about non-school stuff. It works out sometimes, obviously I'm still checking my email and this site constantly. Best of luck to you.

  4. Grad students at UC Santa Cruz have been striking, some grad students were fired subsequently, and the campus has been closed. I figured this would cause delays in admissions decisions but I've been seeing on the results page that other departments have been hearing back (I applied to Environmental Studies PhD, haven't heard anything yet). Does anyone have any information?

  5. Does anyone know if UC Berkeley Environmental Science Policy and Management typically notifies people that they are on a wait list? I see some people got notified by their POI they were on a wait list but I'm wondering if the department notifies.

  6. Hey everyone!

I am applying to six PhD programs for Fall 2020. At two of these schools I've had significant contact with at least one potential advisor. At another school I found a professor whose work I am now very excited about but it's a bit late in the game (application deadline tomorrow). Is it typical to contact potential advisors after submitting your application? Should I address my lateness in contacting? Thanks!
